I've had a few days now to digest my latest round of Disney dining, so it is time to begin the reviews! This trip was just me and I was on the DVC DDP. Here are the places I will be reviewing (there will be a few bonus reviews of snacks and drinks interspersed, but I can't even begin to think of all of them right now!):

Raglan Road
Pecos Bills
Tutto Italia (dinner and lunch)
Boulangerie Patisserie
Yacht Club Galley
Kona Cafe
Wolfgang Puck Express
Earl of Sandwich
Le Cellier

I arrived at All Star Music at about 6 PM and immediatly set out in search of dinner. All Southwest had fed me were two packets of Wheat Thins, so I was ready for food no matter what time my body thought it was!

I was not on the DDP for my first night, so my original plan was to try and keep things inexpensive, but Raglan Road sounded really good so I decided to see if I could get in without an ADR.

I arrived at Raglan Road at about 7 PM and was told it would be about a 30 min. wait. That sounded reasonable, so I took my pager and broused around the giftshop until I was called. It had been almost exactly 30 mins. When I was called for my table.

I was seated in a room off to the side of the main room, the music room. Since there was no entertainment going on at this point I didn't mind being away from the action of the center room, and it was much quieter.

I ordered a glass of sauvignon blanc, which was wonderful, and enjoyed my soda bread with Guiness reduction dipping oil. For my main course I decided upon the It's Not Bleedin' Chowder:

This dish was wonderful! It was full of wonderful seafood that was all coated in a chowder-like broth, but it definitly was not a soup. If you love shellfish this is the dish for you! I inhaled it. All of it. And it was a generous serving too!

Against my better judgement I went ahead and ordered dessert. I went with Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding because I had heard so many people rave about it. I did not take a picture of this one. I thought it was good, but not great, and I was so full of seafood that I just didn't enjoy dessert like I usually do. Lesson learned: if I really don't feel like having dessert, that means I shouldn't.

The service was quite good. I never waited too long for anything, and I could always find my waitress when I needed something. My total bill for the wine, entree and dessert was 40.95. I'm not sure this restaurant is an oustranding value, but I did enjoy it and I will return. Although next time I won't order dessert!

A good friend of mine had that Chowder at RR and proclaimed it the best ever and I must say after seeing the pic of it it does look incredible!

I checked into BWV Sunday morning and started the dining plan. So from here on out everything was on credits.

Lunch- Pecos Bills

I knew I was having a big dinner at Tutto Italia tonight, and I was also still on west coast time, so I stated getting hungry around 10:30 AM. I knew I wanted counter service, but the question was, which one? It came down to Pecos Bills or Colombia Harbor House. Pecos Bills won because it was a nice day and I thought I would enjoy sitting outside.

I arrived there at about 11 AM, so there were few people there. I was able to order almost immediatly. I went with the cheeseburger and fries a bottle of water and the prepackaged carrot cake. I was dissapointed to see that the peanutbutter mousse brownie that I have heard so much about was not available.

I recieved my food quickly, added my desired burger fixins' from the fixin's bar and took my tray outside. Despite what I had thought, there really wasn't much to look at because of the high wall that surrounds the patio, but it was still nice to enjoy sitting in the sun and listening to the sounds of the park. There's not a whole lot to say about the food. It was a burger and fries. The carrot cake was tasty. Next time I will have to try Colombia Harbor House though.

Dinner- Tutto Italia

I was looking forward to this one for a few reasons. Fisrtoff, there have been such mixed reviews of it here on the DIS. Secondly, the prices were admittedly high, so that made it a perfect candidate for the DDP. Thirdly, Tutto Italia is run by the same restauraunt group that runs several of the Downtown Disney Anaheim restaurants, all of which my family and I really enjoy.

I arrived a few minutes prior to my ADR time and was seated within a few minutes. I was seated at a table for two right next to the doorway to the back seating area. Not the best seat in the house, but not worth comlaining about either. I had never eathen at the old Alfredos, so I can't compare the two, but my overall impression was that although the room was quite large that it was attractive and that the tables were adequately spaced.

I don't recall my server's name, but he was firendly and attentive. I was immediatly brought a bread basket with dipping oil and a serving of vegtables with vegtable hummus dip. It was all wonderful.

For my starter I chose the mussels, that were describes as being served in a spicy red sauce. My waiter assured me that it was not spicy and he was right. They were delicious. I think I ate almost the entire serving, and as you can see it was genererous!
IMG_0370.jpg

My entree was the salmon served with arichoke hearts, which was also fantastic! The fish was cooked to perfection and the artichoke hearts really added to the overall flavor. I couldn't finish, but I did ask for a box which I promptly forgot.

The dessert menu has been a point of contention here for a while. As you can see, the $12.00 canoli is a thing of the past.
IMG_0372.jpg

I decided to go with the chocolate torte, which sounded wonderful from the menu description, but it was horrible! I don't often say this about desserts, but it was dry and flavorless. I think I only ate two bites.

Overall, I loved this restaurant. It was one of my favorite meals of the trip. It was also an excellent value on the DDP. The total for my food was $57.00, but my reciept does not show the coffee I ordered with dessert, or gratuity. I also did not seem to get charged for the glass of wine that I ordered. So if you are on the dining plan, or just do not mind the prices, go to Tutto Italia! I liked it so much I went back for lunch the next day!

Wow! I didn't know Tutto would look so fancy inside. I can't wait to hear about your lunch there!

Much thanks! :daisy:

Keep them coming. I'm drooling of the "clam chowder." Yummy.:stir:

I had originally planned on eating a counterservice lunch, but it was freezing cold today, so I decided that some nice hot pasta would fit the bill, so back to Tutto Italia I went. I was seated almost immediatly, just two tables away from where I had been the night before.

The menu was the same at lunch as it had been for dinner, and I wanted to try some new dishes. So for my starter I had the fresh mozzerella and tomatoes. It was quite good but very large. I forgot to take a picture of this one.

My entree was the manacotti, which my waitor reccomended over the lasagne when I asked. I thought the flavor was wonderful, but it was very rich and I couldn't come close to finishing.

For dessert I chose the terrimisu, which was leaps and bounds better than my dessert the previous evening.

Service today was just as attentive as it had been the night before. I enjoyed my appetizer and entree much more for dinner, but that is because I love seafood, not because my luch items were poorly prepared. However, as I mentioned above my dessert was much better at lunch, as my chocolate torte from the night before had been paratically inedible. I enjoyed my lunch just as much as I had my dinner, but in the future I do need to remember to order what I know I love, even it is a repeat. I know many people love to be adventerous and try new things, but I find sticking to favorites works better for me.

Dinnertime found me gawking at the Osbourne Lights at MGM, and I wasn't crazy about any of the counterservice options. Then it hit me, I could get a late dinner at the French pastry shop at Epcot, then catch Illuminations. Sold! It took almost an hour to get to Epcot from MGM, so by the time I arrived in France, not only was I starving, but I only had about 30 mins. to get dinner before the fireworks. Fortunately becase it was so late the line was short.

A counter service credit at Boulangerie Patisserie is an outstanding value. For one credit you get one savory pastry, one dessert pastry and a drink. I selected the ham and cheese croissant, which I had warmed, the creme brulee and a bottle of water. The croissant was outstanding! It may have been one of my favorite meals of the week. I saved the creme brulee for later, and ate it back at the room. I think it is the same creme brulee that is served next door at Les Chefs de France. It too, was wonderful. Whenever I think of dining at Epcot I tend to focus only on the table service restaurants, but this was an outstanding counter service meal, that I will keep in mind for futire trips!

Very nice, enjoying your reviews! It was nice to see Boulangerie Patisserie here and that your lunch was tasty!
My mom and I always take some "girl time" to sneak away to France and get a goodie, next time we will have to "do lunch" while there.:goodvibes

I slept in a bit this morning, and just wasn't in the mood to hit a park first thing. So I took my time getting ready then took to boat across the lake to the Yacht Club. I was seated immedietly and ordered the Mickey Waffle and a glass of orange juice.

No pictures of this one, but I'm sure everyone knows what a Mickey waffle looks like! I had a very good breakfast here. The service was efficient and friendly and the food was great. I have had nothing but good experiences here and I will continue to return, even now that it is called the Captains's Grill. Anyone who is staying in the Epcot area should keep this one in mind for a no frill table service meal.

I went to the Magic Kingdom around 5 PM to take pictures of the lights on the castle (spectacular!), then decided to see if I could get into Kona Cafe for an early dinner. I did not have an ADR. and was quoted a wait of 30 mins. I decided to wait, and was seated within the quoted wait time.

The service here was not good. My waitress seemed overwhelmed. She would visit all of her tables one after the other, even though we were at very different points in our meal. So I would see her three times in 10 minutes, but not again for a half and hour. It was a hurry up and wait, kind of meal. And it colored the whole experience. Now on to the food...

To start I had the lump crab cakes. They were good, but not outstanding, there was more cake than crab. But the flavor was good and I would order it again.

For my entree I decided to have the shrimp and scallops, but for some strange reason I was really craving mashed potatoes, so I asked my waitress if I could substitute potatoes for the rice. To her credit not only did she say that it was not a problem but she said that she could do just about anything I wanted. So I decided to have all shrimp instead of the scallops. That ended up being a mistake. The shrimp were just okay. I didn't care for the orange sauce that came with them, and the potatoes were not good at all. They were cold and kind of watery. Here's what it looked like:

I had been looking forward to the Kiluea Torte ever since the last time I ate here. I was aware of the changes and I was interested to see how the two versions compared. The verdict: the current chocolate chip version is good, but the old chocolate fudge version was so much better!
IMG_0524.jpg

After dinner I went over to the California Grill to have a drink and watch the fireworks. I have done this twice now and I really enjoy it. I had a glass of wine and chatted with the bartender then went outside to watch the Christmas fireworks. It was a wonderful end to the evening!
