Hey guys,

So as I've said I'll be going solo in February, and now I'm trying to decide which table restaurants I want to eat at. Having lived there for three months, you'd be surpised at the number of restaurants I HAVN'T been to, its astonashing haha.

The reason I ask is because I CAN be a little shy and self concious about things, especially eating alone, even going to the local sushi place on my lunch break by myself gets my nerves up for whatever reason.

So I was wondering what places you might recommend for solo diners?

I've travelled solo to WDW twice (and DLR twice). I prefer to avoid buffets and character meals. My favorite table service restaurants at WDW are: La Hacienda de San Angel, Artist Pointe, Grand Floridian Cafe, Be Our Guest, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Hollywood Brown Derby, and Yak and Yeti. I was treated like a leper when I dined solo at The Rainforest Cafe (AK). Most of the servers at WDW are very gracious to guests eating alone.

There are a few ways to go.

Buffets are quicker. You can basically eat and run and not spend too much time at the restaurant.

Next, I think resort restaurants might be easier to handle than the park restaurants. You do have to do more commuting with this option.

Choose the less busy places like the Plaza in MK, Marrakesh in Epcot, Tokyo dining in Epcot, and Brown Derby in HS. At least I feel these places are less busy most of the time.

I feel lunch is a less busy time and may be more to your delight.

Bring a book, iPad or whatever to keep you occupied as you wait for your food. You won't feel so out of place that way.

If it really starts bugging you then do more quick service counter meals.

Thanks so much for all your replies folks! Wish I wasn't so self conscious about this kind of stuff haha

My advice..just don't be Creepy..my family ate at Akershus on weds and there was a solo guy there, mind you this is a Princess Buffet..the princesses were taken aback by this guy and we even overheard the handlers telling the gals to make it "quick", he kept trying to feel the fabric of the dresses...fetish maybe but it made everyone at the tables around him uncomfortable for the princesses. We sat with 3 solo guests at Beirgarten New Years Eve and they were great !

I've done so many solo Disney trips/cruises it's hard to keep track of them all. Some of my favoirte places to dine at WDW are Boma's, Beaches and Cream Soda Shop (sit at the counter), 50's Prime Time Cafe, Be Our Guest Restaurant, California Grill Lounge, Ohana (they bring a lot of food to your table so I come hungry), Olivia's Cafe, Tusker House Restaurant and Whispering Canyon Cafe.

I've never had any issues solo at any Disney spots. A little bit of rude service at AP but I think it's just because he knew my bill wouldn't be high which = lower tip. The first few times I was nervous, now I"m glad to not have to fight for a spot at a CS place and have families look at me like I'm taking up room if I'm at a table. Something that might be helpful is to bring an ereader or something like that...or a notebook you can write in and pretend you're doing important Disney business in....helps let you forget you're alone and keeps you from watching everyone else.
