Thinking about doing a solo trip during my school's March break and have been really wanting to do character dining since i've never gotten a chance to do so on previous trips. The two character dining experiences I'm eyeing are: Storybook Dining (for the Evil Queen) & Akershus.

Are these two choices friendly for solo diners? any tips and tricks? thanks in advance!

I go to WDW solo a lot. I just eat where I want to eat and I have found most restaurants are solo friendly. The only issue I have had with solo character dining is when I want a photo with the character. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes there just isn’t anyone nearby to do it so I take a photo of the character without me (I am not good at selfies). I also avoid character buffets because I don’t want to leave my stuff at the table when I go to get food (plus I think buffets are unhygienic, however that’s another story) but will go someplace like Garden Grill where it’s served to you at your table.

If you want to experience those two character meals, then go and enjoy yourself.

I usually ask princesses for their portraits and sometimes a selfie so that works out for me then! Is it hard getting a solo reservation though?

Top Solo tip-if you can’t find it for 1 book the smallest group for the time you want and then try to modify it. Often when it’s a Disney owned restaurant you can drop it to 1 person and keep the time you want on modification. Even when you can’t modify it like that the general rule of the thumb is as long as 1 person shows up, the no show fee isn’t charged.

I do solo character dining all the time! I prefer the non-buffet options as it can be a bit awkward leaving your table to go to the buffet - but unless you are one who asks to pay at the beginning of the meal "to save time", they most likely wouldn't think you'd left and re-seat your table. I do try to make eye contact with my server to let them know I'm not finished.

It can be. Just book for two and change it to 1 later.

If you like meeting characters as a solo, then character dining is great you can choose if you just want to wave from the table or get up and talk to them, get a hug, photo, etc.

Sometimes I go to WDW with friends. Mostly I go solo. It's wonderful: strangers make friends with you at the bar, the bartenders joke around with you. You might have trouble making ADRs for one person, though, so you might have to reserve a table for two or three; you can revise later.
