I am thinking of dumping my timeshare condo (I'll loose the week :headache:), but with the new room rates for December, Pop seems to good to pass up.

Anyone else done solo at Pop in December?

Not in December, but I did in April one year - for several days until my sister could join me.. :goodvibes

How was it?

Great! I felt very safe - and the bus service to the parks was awesome.. Because they don't share busses with any of the other resorts, I never, ever had to wait for a bus..

I struck up conversations with strangers; offered to take photos of families together (with their own cameras); etc.. Walking the grounds was fun - but I was always cautious at night - just in case..;)

sorry not in december but have stayed at POP twice solo. always felt safe at night and didn't have any notable issues with the buses. i think its a great resort to go solo and you're right...can't beat the price to stay on property!

I have tried to stay solo at POP twice. Both times someone eventually crashed in the spare bed. But whatever, the resort feels very safe. My only issue is there is no hot tub.

I as worried about the buses and the noise level on the bus. LOL!

Exactly! I just have to talk myself into it a bit. I do want to do it, I just didn't know about a Value and I haven't heard great things about POP these days. :confused3

That's ok by me. :thumbsup2

Pop is a great place to stay solo I done 3 times and loved it

Thanks! Mike, right?

Thanks everyone; I just have to get over my anxiety and loosing my week issues. I'll get there eventually. I just needed to hear opinions. :goodvibes

:disrocks:

I am also doing a solo trip at POP from December 5th thru 10th so I love all the information here.

I do solo at POP All the time.... at least 10 times.. it is great!! :) You will love it!!! Go for it!!!!

Haven't been in December but I did a 4 night solo trip at Pop last year the Wednesday-Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Granted, 3 of the days a friend drove me back to Pop at the end of the night and walked back to my room with me (I stayed alone though), but there were times I was walking around the resort after dark and I was never uncomfortable, and it was pretty crowded. I'd stay there again solo with no hesitation

The only awkward part for me was that their pools are very busy, so it's not really possible to swim (may not be an issue in December), so I was just standing there submerged in water, alone. Needless to say, my pooltime didn't last long:laughing: Totally different experience from my solo time at BWV and BCV where I was able to chill out in the quiet pool and not feel overly awkward.

I've stayed at POP solo a couple times and it was great! I always felt safe there, even at night. I never had a problem with buses.. never had to wait more than 5 mins for a bus. The food court is amazing! I love going there on my way back from the parks late at night and picking up a snack to bring back to my room. Go for it... you will love it!

I don't need a pool, so that is not a problem.

Cool! The buses and the noise level at the resort was making me anxious.

I was alrady to book it last night (when I got home later than I expectd) and found it to be sold out, while looking online. It was night just the night before, but I guess I should not drag my feet. I'll keep checking and, if nothing comes up, I'll book a condo off-site with my timeshare company.

Lesson Learned! Book and then research!!

Thank you everyone!!! :goodvibes

I did solo trip at Pop last year in March for a few nights. I did a trippie, just not sure how to connect you to it! I asked for the 50's building facing the lake (the one with "Tramp" in front). Nice and quiet, beautiful view, lots of bunnies and ducks every day. If you're nervous about getting to your room at night, just tell the cm at check in that you're alone and would like to be close to the main hall on a well-lit path if possible. I went solo again this past January for the 4/3 deal (seven glorious nights!) but could only get the All Star Sports - told the cm I was alone and so I was in the football hotel facing the main play area and only steps from the food court. It was a bit noisier, but lots of people around if I was nervous about being on my own at night. That's why I use ear plugs when I sleep!:thumbsup2
I do remember the buses at Pop were great, and I loved being solo both times. If you want to hit the food court, the later the better. I never made it to any rope drop, and would usually just go and get my tea in my refillable mug and take it back to my room to have my cereal bar around 8 am - very busy and glad I wasn't trying to get food!
Can't beat being on your own schedule (whatever you want whenever you want!). Enjoy!:goodvibes

Actually, I find it to be the opposite with the food court.. the earlier the better for breakfast. If you can go between 7am and 8am it is not very busy (the part when you choose and pay for your food.. not sure about the seats). It gets very busy after 8am... but if you're going for breakfast and plannign on doing rope drop, you should be okay. Also, late at night its pretty quiet- 9pm and later.

For me, Pop's food court was best around 6:30 a.m. in the morning. I am an early riser when on vacation and this was the perfect time to get my coffee and bagel and head to the lake for a bit of private contemplation before running to rope drop. . .lol.

I have stayed at POP several times in December solo.. and I never had a problem with buses, food, getting back.. great place to stay.. I'll be there 12/7-12/14.. at POP solo

Thanks! I was planning on making rope drops though. I am an early riser for vacation, just not for work. ;)

Ahh, so it was you that has my room? ;) ;)

If you have any TRs, I would love to read them.

As of now, POP is sold out for me dates of 12/4-10. I will keep checking for a couple of dates and then go book my timeshare. I'm a little bummed about it, but I dragged my feet too long! :headache:

Thank you SO MUCH for all the advice. I'm hoping against hope something will show up.

Anyone else done solo at Pop in December?

I did POP solo in April of this year. I have stayed at POP in the past in December when it first opened. I enjoyed the resort as a solo traveler. The atmosphere was nice enough, I liked watching the rabbits that were all over the place. The snake that I saw on Memory Lane was a bit offputting, but in December, I doubt that you will find those sunning themselves along the path. There were lots of families there with lots of kids. I did enjoy staying at POR last year more than POP this year. If the issue of $$$ was the deciding factor in going or not going, going Value will win over not going at all. :thumbsup2

I still have a condo to go too, so that is not an issue.

I did check again just to see if POP was available and IT IS, just not with the first night. Though, the lots of families with kids does turn me off a bit, so I am a moderate girl that a value girl. :lmao:
