I didn't think I would be eligible for SOG for another 2 1/2 years when I'll go on active duty as an O-3 but am now wondering if I will be eligible next summer in August. I spend 45 days a year on active duty and next year's TDY will be 28 days so I will then still be active for another 17 days with no committment to be any particular place for a week of it. If I could get a SOG room for a bit over $100/night(O-1) I would definitely look at going to WDW for part of it. Would I be eligible as the people here understand the rules?

The second question is: how hard does it tend to be to book for that time of year? Would I unfairly be taking a room from someone who doesn't have the opportunities that I do if I did book there?

TIA

I think you might be eligible, but to make sure just visit their website at www.shadesofgreen.org and click on "Eligibility" or contact them by phone at: (407) 824-3400.

Second question: They can fill up pretty fast, but the only time I've had problems getting a reservation was during the Christmas/New Years or on holiday weekends. Still, it's best to make your reservation as soon as you can set a date. Also, if SOG is booked they (SOG reservations agents) will usually be able to offer "overflow" accommodations at some of the Disney resorts at a substantial savings over the normal Disney resort price. THIS IS NOT ALWAYS available, but it's worth asking about if the time period you're trying to book for is full for Shades of Green.
