My brother and my sister in law are both Air Force and they were deployed to the Mid East in early Jan. Yes! both of them. I have custody of their 3 children ages 8,5 and 2. I'd love to take them to WDW. Would I be allowed as their guardian to book at SoG? They all have current dependant cards and I have my POA papers. Thanks for any info.

but I think the answer is yes. The number is (888) 593-2242 or at least they can put you in touch with the people who can answer your question. If you are eligible to get SoG room rates be sure to also check out the SoG reduced rates for park tickets as well.

BTW, bless you for keeping your brother's children. You are surely earning your place in heaven!

Thanks for the info! I'm going to call there tomorrow. Having the kids is overwhelming to say the least. I have 2 DS of my own and now with 3 more...well it's hard. The oldest (8) is taking it pretty hard but adjusting very well. The 5 yr old just thinks she is on vacation and the 2 yr old isn't sure what is going on. There wasn't anyone else that could take the kids, my mom works full time and my dad is disabled so I was it. Believe me I appreciate the place in heaven but I would much rather they were home ---safe and sound.

mom2of2-
I really hope you are eligible, it would give those kids a special treat. If you are planning a trip in the near future, the CR may be booked, but SoG offers great overflow rates at other resorts. It's usually a thirty minute wait to get through to a person, but this week when I called I only had a seven minute wait. Business could be down to due to all the deployments. good luck and enjoy!

I believe if your neices and nephew have military dependent ID cards and you have a written power of attorney, then you should be able to book SoG using their ID cards and their father's SS #. Check at your local military base parks and recs department.

Another option since the children have their dependent IDs is to obtain a copy of their mother or father's active duty and/or deployment orders. I know that SoG has always told us that as long as one person has an ID, it's fine. I went in January with some girlfriends and booked 3 rooms w/ my dependent ID, DH didn't have to be with us. Since the children have the IDs though, a copy of the orders along with your POA is probably a good idea.

Actually, with all the deployments and activations of reserves and guards, I believe people are cancelling. Booking CR through SOG may not be as difficult. You can get on the waiting list or book an overflow room(we get overflow to Disney resorts a lot!). Good luck!:D

Thanks for all the advice. They are "scheduled" to return 15 Aug so I was hoping to make ressies for June sometime. I don't know how it all works though. Am I put on a waiting list? My brother is a E-5 and when I went to the SoG web site it didn't list suites. I would take my 2, his 3 myself and my mother. We both have POA's but my brother didn't give us a copy of his orders and is afraid of sending them through the mail. He's afraid to tell us anything over the phone, email or snail mail. I only know where he is because of "clues" he gave me and yes and no answers. It's such a pain. What resorts have you been overflowed to? I also wasn't able to get ticket prices. I need them for the 2 oldest, youngest is 2. I would of course pay full price for my kids and me and my mother.

As an E5, you can get two connecting rooms at CR under SoGin June. It will cost you $66 for the first room and $89 for the second for a total of $155 for two rooms plus tax per nite. This is the way to go as the rooms are huge! All five kids can sleep in one room and you and your mother take the second. Each room has two queen size beds and a sleeper couch that is very comfortable. And you will have two great bathrooms. I would get on the the wait list as soon as possible. With POA and active dependent ID cards you should have no problems.

I don't think you need a copy of his active duty orders, but should be able to get a generic copy from his command very easily. At any rate you won't need them til June when you arrive, not when you make the ressies (which should be as soon as possible) My daughter sent hers (active duty orders) through the mail for me with no problem. She was also in the Mideast in a sensitive position and I had the care of my granddaughter.

Also you can buy tickets for your whole crew at SoG. The discount is the Florida tax. You don't pay that. I would call the parks and recs department of the nearest base to check prices. Also you are eligible to use the commissary and exchange while caring for your brother's children. Just need to get a special paper from the base command based on your POA and ID cards. This may be important to have if you need to use military medical.
