SoG Renovation Questions

I know nothing about the renovation at SoG. Did they renovate the old rooms as well? If not, can you request a room in the new building? Is there a preferred area to stay?
My parents will be staying there in October, and I want them to be impressed. My dad is already excited about it!

I'm pretty sure that the old rooms are the same. I stayed in the new area in January. It was very nice but the only thing that it is close to is the parking garage. It you plan on using the pools or eating at the resort I would stick with the older section which is also very nice.
