You can be retired military, but just remember it has to be the type of "retired" that leaves you with the possession of a valid military ID card.

We are active duty USNavy and the info we have is yes. If you are active or retiree you are eligible. Just remember it takes 1 year prior to dates to reserve a space. We have never stayed there and we have been going to WDW for about 15 years. It just has not worked out for us. There rates go on your rank too. Disney has great discounts at most resorts try off season. We love the All Star Movies the rate is 77$ usually and the guest service is great just like the Wilderness when we stayed there and we save $$.

See ya real soon, aloha  :fish: :fish:

Hubby is US Navy, the only time that we tried to stay at SOG was in 02 when they were renovating, we got to stay at the Contemporary for the same price, he is an E5 the rate was 71 a night. We have had more luck with Disney packages, we also have friends who are florida residents and we stay with them.. We still go through SOG for tickets though.

My Father just booked 2 rooms for Oct 28 for $99.00 each. When he was on the phone he asked if there were rooms available, the reservationist chuckled and said for that time period, they had 200 rooms open!!!

I cannot wait!!!

It isn't nearly as hard to get SoG rooms as it used to be, and it really is a beautiful hotel. The overflow rates, when available, are also very good. The only downside to the overflow rates (IMO) is that it is such a hassle to make any changes or add any information to the reservations.

thanks for all the info. everyone. My friend is going for the first time in the spring with her family, there is eight of them total so I am tring to help her keep within their budget. Her father-in-law is retired military and will be joining them for this trip.
