Is it worth the extra $ to stay ground floor poolside???

Yes, all the poolside rooms are in the old section.

We did not stay on the first floor, but we were right near the door to the stairs down to the pool. This was fine by us, but we were two adults. Maybe if we had children that would need to go inside for a break, or restroom, or nap, then poolside might be nice.
