Soft openings?

I know there are never any guarantees but are soft openings fairly common after refurbs? Our last day in the park is 6/30 and I'm devastated we are missing Peter Pan by one day - by far my favorite ride, it's where the Disney Magic starts for me every trip!

Would cast members ever say if soft openings are happening that day or is it just luck of the draw if you happen to be walking by at that time?

Crossing my fingers for some serious pixie dust!!

:tinker:

I'd say there's a reasonable chance the ride will open a few days before the scheduled date. They're never announced, but if it happens it'll hit the social media pretty quickly.

A soft opening can occur, but they are not officially announced. As sheetz said, someone will probably post on social media that they just rode (name) the ride, but there is no guarantee that it will remain open. By the time someone who reads the post gets over to the ride it may have closed again. You just have to be in the vicinity of PP to see if it looks like CMs are letting people on.

The trend has been more and more the previews are reserved for CMs and media. With the number of bloggers and social media influencers getting media invites and more CMs who are increasingly aware of these previews they don't seem to be open to the public as much. Sometimes APs get a chance through registrations that fill up in minutes or a small preview will open to the public via the parks blog which also lasts minutes. With the recent Matterhorn reopening there was an entire day reserved for media with no general public or AP early preview at all.

As others have said, it's pretty much luck of the draw whether or not there will be a soft opening. I highly doubt that a CM will tell you that the ride will be opening at some time for a soft opening because things can change without notice. As mentioned by purple figment, your best bet it so keep an eye on social media to see if anyone says they rode it and then if you do see it, hurry over there as fast as possible because a soft opening doesn't mean the attraction will be open continuously (in other words, it might run for a little bit, then close).

I have been in park days before the official opening of rides and they frequently have a soft open. It's usually just you are in the right place at the right time.

I definitely would keep checking on the 30th throughout the day. It's been known to happen.
