Sofa bed question

In the resorts that have a sofa bed in the studios, is is possible to sleep on it without pulling it out? We have a boy and a girl who don't really want to sleep in the same bed anymore, so was considering taking an air mattress for one of them. If we didn't have the pull the sofa bed out, that'd leave us a lot more space for the air mattress. Hope this makes sense

I suppose it's possible, but it would be like sleeping on your non-sofa bed at home, and most are only as wide as a double.

What resort are you staying at? Some resorts have studios that have a single Murphy bed in addition to the sleep sofa.

My kids have done this in the past. No problems. Depending on the resort, some of the cushions are more "glossy" than others, making for a noisy and slippery night.

We've not booked yet. We're totally new to DVC. We're going for an extended period so trying to stay in Studios with lower points values if possible.

Those murphy beds are narrower and shorter than a twin bed. They call them bunk size.

Those would be fine for our six year old, and probably our ten year old too. Presumably that means they're a similar size to the bunk bed size at Fort Wilderness? They were fine on those.
I believe Boardwalk has a decent point per night, so that could be good.

The murphy bed is small but can fit a child or small adult easily. In case you cannot get a studio that has the extra bed since they are fairly limited, sleeping on the sofa without pulling it out is an option. On one of our trips, my son opted to sleep on the sofa rather than pull it out and he was comfortable. No complaints.

I believe Boardwalk has a decent point per night, so that could be good.

Juat FYI, the standard villas at BWV can be difficult to book at 7 months out...

We just stayed at Saratoga Springs. Granted we were in a 2 bedroom villa but the living room is notorious for being cramped. We had 8 people and at one point, DH and I slept in the living room on the sofabed. I had brought an air mattress but my DS ended up putting the two sofa cushions together, plopping it into the narrow space between the sofa and the balcony doors and slept on that. I "made" the bed with a twin fitted sheet I had brought from home and it worked perfectly. He slept like that for 5 nights and insisted he was perfectly comfortable.

Tip for the sofabed - ask for a foam mattress topper! It was fairly uncomfortable in the beginning but the next night onwards the topper made all the difference. One day DH had to reassemble the bed and didn't put the topper on properly. That was an uncomfortable, painful night. I fixed it properly the next morning and all was good from then on.

It is a full size pullout, so you can imagine how wide it would be. Easy to sleep on, but length-wise (which would be full size width-wise), I'd say it can sleep someone up to about 4 and a half feet, but not much more.
