Ugh....wish I had a crystal ball...seems like all the deals for these have gone away, anyone see anything recently? the cheapest I can find right now is 69.95 for a base model (fountain jet) for seltzer.... I LOVE seltzer:cheer2: we drink a LOT of seltzer in our house, I feel like I am wasting time and money buying it all the time,I don't like buying water..... I have also heard of alternatives to sodastream, anyone have advice? This is one gadget that I know I will use a LOT.... we go thru a couple of liters a day in our house minimum

I don't know if its a deal or not but HSN has a 16pc Soda Stream for $99.95.
I got this about a year ago at a lower price but it does come with 2 1liter bottles & 2 1/2 liter bottles and a lot of flavor samples plus 3 full size flavors. The bottles are pretty expensive if you have to buy them separately.

I believe if you shop at Target there is currently a Cartwheel deal for 20% off the machine (no syrup or accessories though).

FWIW, I love, love, love my Soda Stream. I use it almost exclusively for seltzer, I've had it for about 5 years and I have NEVER regretted the purchase!.......P

If you have a Kohl's charge, you can order one on their webiste. Use code SAVE30 and save an additional 30% off. The sodamixes are also on sale.

I am seriously considering purchasing a Soda Stream. With exception of alcohol, I drink water and seltzer
If I purchase the Soda Stream and make my seltzer, can I transfer it to saved 1 LTR water bottles? Would the seltzer stay bubbly?
I'm not sure if I should start saving my 1 LTR bottles (which is how I drink my seltzer).
Also, I don't want to use syrups. Since I won't use syrups, how would I flavor my seltzer? With the actual juice from a piece of fruit?
Thanks SO Much!

Also, what is the difference please between the following:
(From Kohls)

SodaStream Genesis Home Soda Maker
Sale $118.99 / Regular $139.99

SodaStream Source Home Soda Maker Starter Kit
Sale $99.99 / Regular $129.99

SodaStream Pure Home Soda Maker
Regular $149.99

Can anyone please let me know about the differences. I would live to purchase and know you all are the experts.

Thanks so much!

My sams club had it on close out price yesterday for $39. Don't know any particulars.

Google search for "difference between sodastream models". Follow the "Help Me Choose" link to see a chart of the differences.

Lots of small differences. Base made of Plastic vs. plastic + nickel vs. metal + plastic. Or glass vs. plastic bottles. Or 1 bottle vs. 2. etc

Also, when looking for flavors, there are some alternatives to the Sodastream brand. I found one site that I like - I don't think it's any cheaper, it actually might be a bit more, but I like the taste better.

Not sure if I am allowed to share the site name, but you can message me if you'd like it.

I got one for Christmas and may extras and never used it. Going to try to sell it, its all brand new. If someone is interested Ide be happy to send pictures and work through paypal if that is allowed.

Can I start saving mu old one liter plastic bottles, make the seltzer in the soda stream machine and transfer to my saved bottles. This way I could make enough for one week at a time (as I do with my iced coffee)?

Also, if I don't want syrup for my seltzer how do I flavor it? Actual real fruit juice such as a lemon?

Thanks.

No you cannot use any other bottle except the soda stream bottle. Couple of things first I do not believe the opening are the same size so a normal bottle will not screw onto the soda stream bottle.

Second the soda stream bottles are made from a much thicker plastic to prevent them from exploding as you re pressurize them over and over. A normal soda bottle is not made to the same strength and will not hold up to multiple re pressurizing.

No, you can't use other bottles to transfer the seltzer into. Not for the reasons mentioned above, but because the bottles you buy in-store are single use only and will leech chemicals if you reuse them. You can purchase extra soda stream bottles if needed.

To flavor your water, either squeeze fresh fruit juice into the bottle or pour 100% fruit juice into the bottle. Just add it like you would the soda stream flavoring.

Also, a soda stream will not save you money. It ends up being the same price as purchasing seltzer or any 2-liter of soda when you factor in the number of liters the canister makes. I've heard some people prefer to make it more carbonated than is listed in the instructions which makes your cost per liter go up even more. So, if you're buying one for convenience or to throw away less plastic, great...but it is not a money saver. :)

Also make sure you have easy access to canister refills...I know Bed Bath and Beyond carries them but I'm not sure where else you can do the canister exchange.

just seeing that Amazon offers the syrups on subscribe and save - good deal if you have 5 or more subscriptions. Also, we usually exchange our canisters at Staples when they have the 15% or 20% off entire purchase coupons

It's been quite a while since I did the calculations but it is basically the same price as buying 2-liter bottles at the store of name brand beverages. You save time not having to buy soda/water at the store but you still have to exchange your canisters so I wouldn't find it any more convenient.

I'd love a soda stream but only if it were 1/2 the cost of purchasing seltzer water. I buy seltzer water in cans because the bottles go flat.

i only drink carbonated water (perier, pelagrino) so sounds like this would be okay for me. i pay about $1.50 for a 750 ml bottle.
