Soda savers for 2 liter sodas - anyone seen these before?

About 2 or more years ago at Wal Mart I got these white caps that fit on 2 liter soda bottles. The name on the cap says Soda Saver. They keep the soda fresh longer and are easier to open than the twist on kind. Ours are now all broken and our Wal Mart doesnt seem to have them any more. I tried doing a search online but the only thing I found was for can soda. So I figured I would ask on here. Its a trivial question but the people here on the DIS seem to know EVERYTHING!

We have something for wine bottles, don't know if it would fit on a 2 liter bottle, or even if it would work with the carbonation. Basically, you put a rubber stopper in and vaccum out the air.

The ones I am looking for are really cheap - like $1.50 for a 4 pack. Its more about the ease of opening the bottle than the preserving of the soda. My DH is addicted to Pepsi One.

(buy more then 2...trust me...the "hinge" breaks down after a while.

ETA - this makes "opening" soda VERY easy. you toss teh original cap, screw this on...pump out the air, and then "flip the top" when you want to pour soda.

Go to Ebay and type in soda saver. There are some for 4.99 that are awesome!!! There aren't 4 in a package but this one is so much better. We had the ones you were talking about *I think* and this one is so much better. JMO

They last longer if you squeese the bottle to push out the air, and then put on the cap. It looks funny, and my DH thougt I was crazy, but it works!

We had these about 10 years ago...it was called the "FIZZ KEEPER" because it kept the soda fresh. It was white and screwed right onto the bottle of soda. A person had to pump the plunger in the cap up & down to get the air out...only took a second. "FIZZ KEEPER" was printed on the cap in red.

We had gotten ours from a kitchen store named "Lechters" (I think).
Well years later we had either lost/broken them all & when I went to the store to buy more, the employees had no idea what I was talking about.

I've never seen them again.

As odd as this is, I bought a bottle of Ocean Spray Sparkling Cranberry Juice Cocktail, and it came with one over top of the metal screw on cap. I was surprised to see one there after taking the foil off, after reading this thread! LOL
