Since moving to NY I have learned to cal it soda. When I lived in Quebec I called it a soft drink. My adult children, who live in Ontario, call it pop.

Yep here in Ontario Canada it is POP and nothing else unless you call the drink by name ie: Dr Pepper or Pepsi etc but it is all called POP.

I am from South Louisiana, Big Easy area specifically, and we say soft drink. Some say cold drink or COKE, no matter if it is diet, dr. pepper, mr. pibb, whatever. Now I live in Chicago, and here it is pop. It sounds so foreign & I REFUSE to call it that!

My grandmother's from Mass. :teeth:

I grew up in Illinois and always said "pop"...
Then I moved to Texas and had to learn to call everything Coke so people wouldn't look at me like I was from another planet!

It's coke. It's ALL coke.

Whether it's Sprite, root beer, Dr. Pepper- it's all coke.

Like Kelly said, I guess it's a Texas thing. :)

Coke I work in food service. Come in order a drink and not say coke. I know is not from the south.

We call them Soft Drinks here in the land of OZ::yes::

Waaallll, if'n y'all happen to be old timers of the Southern Appalachian persuasion, you'd call it "dope". I had a dear friend who just recently passed away and he teetotally freaked out another friend of mine who had come in to visit from California when he asked him if he wanted a dope. I think this came from the old Coke recipe which supposedly had a small amount of narcotic substance in it.
So - how many of you call it dope?????????

I call it POP! ::yes:: There has been a couple of times when I have gone out to eat in FL and some other states, where they look at me like I am  ! LOL Then they go, oh you are from MN and I look at them like how did you know that! They go because of your accent and I am like what accent! LOL And everyone always tells me that they love my sweet little MN accent too!

Grew up in North western Pa. We called it POP, all my relatives up there still call it POP.
Now I live in FL and have grown to callin it SODA.
