Soda Mugs

Any help would be appreciated...

I can not find a thread that has posted the cost of the soda mugs for the 7 day cruise.

Are they worth it for kids? I am going with extended family in April 2003 and they have young boys, 9 and 7.

I have seen posts regarding juices now being at the water dispenser on Deck 9. Has it been opened yet?

The mugs are $5 per night of the cruise, thus they are $35 on the 7-night cruise. If the kids drink more than 3 sodas a day then the mugs would be cost effective.

plus the mugs make a nice keepsake of their cruise. We use ours all the time.

At first I thought this was a good idea. However, when you consider DS10 will be having soda at both lunch & dinner that would make at least 5 sodas per day. Id rather bring on a 12 pack than have the unlimited mug. At the most just get one for the 3 of us to share and thats if DH insists he needs one.

It was worth the money for us, BUT we shared it, albiet I'm the one that used it 98% of the time, and I drink out of it almost daily still (2 yrs later). So you know, the kids cannot take them to the clubs so if they spend anytime there.......... My DS10 is the only one of my kids that even drink soda and he hardly ever had one he was so busy in the clubs. He also had a smoothie with dinner every night (prefered that to soda as it was a real treat!)

Will probably get one again this time as I have discovered flavored vodka with sprite/7up AND the kids are all old enough to be in the clubs now (didn't drink except a glass of wine at dinner last time because only 2 kids were old enough for the clubs).

FYI, Booking with AAA gets you free soda mugs for your whole family. For our team of 5 that helps out, regardless of how many times they are used.

SuAnne, the only flavour I've tried is Raspberry (had it in the states, haven't looked at the LCBO so can't say if it's sold here or not). I don't like tonic water so the sprite is perfect for me!

My kids were encouraged to bring their mugs to the club. They refilled them right there. We just sailed August 18th (4 night). My kids took them all the time.

We booked through AAA, so we got the mugs. None of us drink much soda, I can go weeks without having one, so we weren't even sure if we were going to buy them anyhow. But for "free" they were great. DS did take his to Common Grounds a lot of the time, and DH filled his sometimes. I used mine for tea from Deck 9 more than soda, LOL! I don't like the environmental waste that paper cups generate, and would rather use teh mug and jsut wash it out daily.

BTW--I've mentioned a couple times that I took a black permenent marker (Sharpie) that came in REALLY handy, and this was one of those times. We put our names and cabin # on the bottom of each much with the Sharpie, and put our first initial on the top of each mug for easy, fast identification as to whose was whose.

Where did you pick up the mugs?Are they waiting in the room,or do you have to go somewhere to pick these up?How do you they know you booked with AAA as I did and we get also the mugs?Your information is greatly appreciated!

If you book through AAA you will get a couplon in your docs for a mug for every person in your cabin. They are all over the place, in the main lobby area when you first board there will be table set up selling them. You hand over your coupon, they'll give you the mugs. The mugs DO look different than the DCL ones.

Have not been yet but I asked the same question today of the DCL special services desk while booking our excursions. They told me that with the documents we wil get a AAA diamond card/voucher which we show on board at guest services and they will provide the mugs for everyone in your stateroom.

I am a relative newcomer. I have only been on the Wonder once. So bear with me.

Are you refering to booking with AAA as a TA? Are there any other benefits in booking with AAA? Cheaper prices, better chances for upgrades, etc?

I am coordinating 3 families for an April 2003 cruise and trying to find any short cuts that I can.

My advice is to check several TA's including the host of these Boards, Disney Dreams and go with who you think will give you the best service/value. I was not aware of these boards nor Disney Dreams when I booked with AAA. Personally I am a do it your self type of person and have always done better IMHO. But... the DCL is another story, Discounts are not like other lines. I could have taken 2 cruises for the price of 1 for my family of 5 on most all other lines. We choose to spend the $$ and go with DCL simply for the "Disney Magic" experience before our kids start going their seperate ways. It is one of those intangible value type of things.

My experience was that AAA price was exactly the same as Disney Cruise Line. What made the difference for me was NOT the soda mugs but the AAA visa. I earn rebates that I can put toward the cruise that makes the final cost to me less that what I could get from Disney Dreams etc - of course, I still have a little under a year to earn the rebates.
There are so many factors that influence the "actual" cost.

Yes, I booked with AAA and several months later, after learning about the AMEX package here, add that package on to my reservation for an additional $60.00.

I didn't do research on prices, I booked AAA because I happened to be in there and saw a brochure and decided it was time for us to go. I never compared prices but I think there's were about the same as anywhere else. I do like the benefit of soda mugs. We are soda drinkers and for a family of 5 we are saving $175.00. It's a discount I will consider again when I book for next year.
