Can you purchase a soda card for unlimited sodas on the Disney ship? I know on some cruise lines you can. If so how much are they??????:bounce:

A soda card would be wonderful, but Disney does a "refillable mug" for soda which you can purchase after boarding. It ends up costing $5 per day -- $35 for the 7-day cruise. It's plastic with a lid and handle, but for my taste is just too big and bulky to haul around. They are nicely (IMHO) decorated, although the free ones we got for booking through AAA have a different design.

when we cruised last on 12/7 they were not using the mugs but put stickers on the card-which was so much more convienant. Both of our previous cruises we forgot to take DS's mug off the ship at castaway Cay and had to pay for sodas for him, but with the sticker you always have your card and your free soda.

So they do not have the card anymore or can you choose between the card or the mug?????? Thanks for all the help.

Disney initially used a sticker program for unlimited soda refills. Quite some time ago they went to the refillable plastic mugs and continue to use them.

The reason that some recent cruisers may have been given stickers instead of the mugs can be traced to the virus outbreaks in the industry. Disney probably felt that the mugs represented an easy way to cut down on person-to-person contamination and did away with them for that reason.

My guess is that the mugs will return without notice and probably in the near future, if they haven't already.

I am sailing this Saturday 1/4 on the Magic and I will let you know if the mugs have returned.

Thanks MJ-
That will be great.....Not only about the soda cards but you can let us know any last minute details we might over look

Just got off the 12/21 Magic cruise and the mugs are back! They fill a soda in a paper cup and pour it into the mug to make sure there is no contamination.

Drink Station is still being manned by Disney personnel.

I will be going on the 7 day "Magic" cruise. I have "Wonder" mugs from a previous 3 day cruise. Can I take my "Wonder" mugs or do I need to purchase new "Magic" mugs to use on the "Magic" cruise.

Thanks,
Minniedew

Unless you get some near sighted server, you will need to purchase new mugs as they are boat specific. Technically, you are not to reuse the mugs between cruises anyways.

Although I've read in this forum that DCL changes the mug design to prevent mugs being re-used from cruise to cruise, the AAA/DCL mugs that we got in March and November were identical. Not as pretty as the regular ones, though. Due to overloaded luggage, we left the last set behind, figuring that we really didn't need eight. I can kick myself now!
