Socks?

I did some searching and found plenty of discussion on shoes and park bags...but what about socks? anyone have any suggestions? I find that my socks are what cause most my problems but hate wearing shoes without them.
 
I always wear athletic socks. They usually have a sweat wicking feature to them.

Running store socks, not walmarts version of an athletic sock (even if it says it wicks moisture)
 

I have foot problems. I had both bunions removed a few years ago and while that improved things somewhat I still have issues. My fore foot is still wide while my heel is very narrow. I found I do best by buying shoes at a running store where they watch how I walk and suggest appropriate shoes. I also bought Features! socks that work very well for me. They are made for left and right foot and hug my foot perfectly minimizing any rubbing and blisters.
 
best bet is to change your socks throughout the day. get a locker. put your stinky socks in there!!!!!
 
I can't stand to wear socks in the summer. Makes my feet too hot. I have 2 pairs of flip flops (a Croc style and an LL Bean pair) that are comfy enough that I can walk all day and night in them in the parks without foot pain. And my feet stay nice and cool!
 
I'll second the suggestion to go to a running store and buy expensive socks. I bought just one pair, tried them out on a hike, and then bought more. I've found two brands that work for me. One I can't remember, but the other one is Smartwool. Socks that breathe, fit snugly but not tight, have fine seams, etc can really make a difference. It's a bit hilarious, but despite my normally cheap budget, I have found myself become a sock snob. Cheap multipacks of underwear and discount store bargain T shirts... With a pair of $15 socks. But, my feet appreciate it!
 
Another plug for running store socks. I have worn Wrights and Feetures and both have kept me blister free

ETA: Do not have a pedicure before you go to WDW and walk. You need the callouses to help you keep from getting the blisters.
 
I'm surprised no one's mentioned it yet so I'll add...bodyglide. You've got to try this too. It's the size of a deodorant stick and can be purchased online or many sporting goods stores. It's odorless and not greasy, just rub all over feet and in between toes and good to go.

Also, I recommend moleskin pads you can get in any pharmacy dept near foot care products. I pre-cut them and put them on any "hotspot" before it becomes a full on blister. I would check my kids feet at every meal break. If you know where your blister will form you can be proactive to prevent them with these stick on pads.

Based on advice I read here last year I went with two pairs of socks this last trip.

I thought for sure two pairs would be way too hot but decided to try it. I wore moisture wicking Nike socks underneath regular Hanes socks.

I also rotated each day between a pair of Nike and New Balance vented running shoes. A couple of evenings I left the socks and shoes at the room and wore reef flip flops to Epcot for dinner.

I usually get multiple large blisters throughout my trip.

Using this strategy I had zero blisters on our 9 day Disney Trip followed by 4 days at UO.
 
I have foot problems and while I love my flip flops, I wear good shoes and socks in the parks. I wear compression socks with wicking and this helps. I always carry a 2nd pair in a zip lock bag just in case they get soaked.
 
I agree with the running socks. When looking for a good running sock be sure to find ones with no cotton. If it occurs to you that $12 for a pair of socks is expensive just remember it is totally worth it! Also if you have a TJ MaXX nearby we have found athletic socks there (Nike, FilA, and UA). Again go for the ones with no cotton as those are less prone to blisters.
 
Yep - running socks. I am a runner, so I have dozens of pair. I prefer Saucony, but most brands work very well.
 
Thank you all! I was looking for some name brands and you guys have given me that. As a veteran of the Disney parks...I bring several pairs of shoes and an arsenal of foot products. I try to to switch from crocs flip flops to sneakers every other day. I have mole skin, blister pads, and surprised no one mentioned this peppermint foot lotion that I rub on my feet after my shower each night. It helps a lot. I am going to try the body glide and compression/wicking socks.
 
Another one that agrees with the running sock. We went to our local running store and bought sock made by Darn Tough. They are wool and wick all the moisture away and are extremely comfortable. They also have a lifetime guarantee (even if the dog rips them apart!!). You can also order them on sock addict.com. I have plantar fasciitis and have the greatest shoes from the running store. A good running store will video your walk/run stride and suggest shoes for you. Between the shoes and the Darn Tough socks walking at Disney in Aug. is a breeze.
 
Ditto on the running socks. Don't go cheap. Make sure they have moisture wicking properties. I love my SmartWool socks (the thin ones), but were too hot for me in the summer and I had a problem with blisters.

Also, I like a good pair of sports sandals with plenty of arch support.
 
Try the socks before going to WDW. I one time purchased socks that were supposed to be great, and ended up with blisters all over my feet. Just like shoes some socks work for some people and different socks work for others.
