Has anyone been to the Disney soccer tourneys between Christmas and New Years? My DD may play there this December - I'm wondering if it makes sense to bring the family along. How much time do the kids have off to
visit the parks? It's soooo crowded (and expensive) then - I'm thinking of
just sending my daughter with one of her teammates while the rest of us
stay home.

I think it all depends.. for example dd is in a soccer tournament this weekend. saturday she has 2 games, one on sunday and if they win that another sunday afternoon. so it pretty much takes up the whole weekend. Now she went to a competitive cheerleading tournament at the wide world of sports in Feb and really saturday was the only full day. Friday we spend the day at the magic kingdom and sunday we did epcot before driving home..

The week between Christmas and New Year's...ugh! Wall to wall people...But, if you just went and did things differently...resort hopping to see the decorations, DD, IMO you really need to stay on-site if you want access to the theme parks. Our family was shut out of MK during that week one year (except for a very rainy day) because we stayed off-site. On-site is very expensive during that week. If you stay off-site, go very early in the morning so you are not shut out. That would be a difficult decision! There is so much to love there that time of year if you adjust your expectations.

I think it also depends on your team. My daughter played over Thanksgiving last year and her team is very strict on their schedules. They were not really allowed any family time...all meals were arranged, curfews...all kids drove in vans to/from the games and were even scheduled to cheer on at other team's games.

If you can find time to go a couple of days surrounding the tournament, I'm sure you can get into the parks on your own schedule but it will be really crowded.

The tournament itself was *great* but I definitely missed being able to go to the parks. It was really neat, though, seeing my DD playing on the Disney soccer fields!!

My DD went last year. Her team was not allowed to go to the parks. They played one game a day.

Some of her friends went with other teams and did go to the parks. They said Sea World is their new favorite because it was the only place they went that wasn't nuts.
