SoCal resident buying SoCal APs for out-of-town family?

I'm going to be going to DL for three days in November. None of those dates will be blacked out on the SoCal Select AP. I live in NorCal, but my sister lives in Orange County and has offered to buy the four people in our party the APs using her address. I just spoke to a cast member on the phone, who said there would be no problem having a SoCal resident buy SoCal APs for out-of-town families, as long as "there was a Southern California address on file" (that is, if we gave her address as the billing address).

Has anyone ever done this? Did you run into problems? What would be the best way to do this? To have my sister meet us at the park and buy the APs, or to have her buy them online using her billing address and then give us the printed etickets.

I would really prefer to have the AP as opposed to regular parkhopper because a) the dining discounts and b) the possibility of returning to DL the next time I go visit her! :)

The problem will occur when you are processing the AP's and getting your photo taken. They will ask to see a valid id (drivers' license), and that will show a different address than the one used to purchase the tickets.

I recommend just getting Deluxe passes, b/c that's totally legit and proper.

There's one little caveat to what Callie said, and that's...since WA doesn't require you to get a new DL each time you change addresses (you can, but it costs money, and all that is required is to notify the DMV of the address change), we have a very different address on file with them than what either of our licenses says. This is the first year we haven't moved in something like 5 years, and my DL is coming up on 5 years old (closing in on time to replace it!), hubby's is 2 addresses old...now, it's all still NOT in so cal, and maybe they get more serious if your'e trying to take advantage of a so cal deal. They might make so cal residents bring in utility bills or lease agreements, etc, if their driver's licenses don't have a matching address.

So I'd just get the deluxe. :)

Thanks for the tips. Showing the DL is what concerned me, which is why I called the Disneyland ticket office to ask if it would be possible. I made it very clear that a SoCal resident would be buying the APs for out-of-town family, and she seemed to be saying that as long as one person showed a valid SoCal ID, s/he would be able to purchase the APs for all of us. Maybe I just got an overly nice cast member on the phone. ;)

When I've visited DL with her in the past, she has shown her ID to the cast member at the ticket booth to purchase a SoCal 2fer for me explaining that I was a visiting family member from out of town, and the cast member has let me purchase the ticket using my own credit card. Was hoping this was the same way! We've always been upfront about it and have never had a problem, but perhaps we were just lucky.

We live in Nor Cal, when we first bought APs the CM who helped us did ask us about the So Cal APs, but then she said we would have to prove we were residents, and that they will require an ID card with a So Cal address so no, your relative cannot buy you a So Cal AP as you will still have to prove residency.
