SoCal Resident 3-Day Park Hopper® Ticket

My brother and I are planning a summer visit to Disneyland. He lives in California and I will be visiting from out of state.

There are tickets called "SoCal Resident 3-Day Park Hopper® Ticket"

The rules state among others:
• Tickets valid only for Southern California residents within ZIP codes 90000-93599 and Northern Baja California residents within ZIP codes 21000-22999 and proof of residency is required for admission.

• May purchase up to five (5) tickets per person per day with valid ID.

Does this mean he can buy my ticket?

Please no negative comments, I'm asking because I want to follow the rules.

If he buys one for you, and gives it to you it is within the rules of Disney. If you give hime something to buy it for you, or buy it from him, it is against the rules of Disney.

Tickets can be given as gifts. Not resold.

That's a decent deal.

If you want to park hop and will spend at least $50 at the resort for food or souveniers, the Costco 4 day PH is a better deal at $149 for the ticket plus a $50 gift card. However, it is only good through late August, while the SoCal ticket is good through early September. The Costco ticket must be purchased in advance at Costco or costco.com. -- Suzanne

My understanding, though I may be wrong, as I haven't experienced it myself, is that you are not able to upgrade the SoCal if you aren't from SoCal, but I haven't heard of anyone having difficulties in using them.

The Costco pass would be useful for my Brother (if he had a Costco membership), but I couldn't use because you need a California ID to redeem.

There have been a number of people post that the Costco southern CA pass can be gifted as well and even others that have bought it from an out-of-state address. I have not, but you may want to search for that Costco thread.

A call to Disney told me differently so I am confused. To the OP, I would call Disney and ask them.

We just bought these costco passes last month for my sister, mom and niece and nephew. And they didn't ask for ID once. They can't print your name on these as costco sends an actual ticket and no a voucher. They asked us to print our names on the ticket with a pen upon our first entry and that was that.

I was not disagreeing with you. I was disagreeing with the other person that said her brother could not buy one for her to use. The brother could indeed buy one for her. I am not going until October, so I am not worried about it right now; I was just trying to help. If I was going and had a family member in Cali, they would buy me my pass as a gift and I would gift them enough food or whatever else I needed to cover their generous gift.

Do they usually have SoCal deals year-round? My SIL could get these for our Xmas presents but we go in Sept right after it expires. I'm not sure if I should just buy the PH on-line now before Sunday's price increase or wait and see if there is a new SoCal deal. Costco deal is for too many days for us, since we have a 2-3 day plan currently.

They cannot tell me what gifts I give people. If my brother bought me a pass as a gift and I bought him a thank you gift, there is no way that is against the rules. We could argue semantics all night, but Disney cannot tell me what kind of thank you gift I can buy someone. I can guarantee you that if my brother bought me a $200 gift, he would get a gift in return for similar if not more value.

I can understand why Disney is letting anyone show up with these things use them because there is no good way to police it unless they said that you could not give them as gifts and required proof of residency upon usage.

He bought me a Disney sweatshirt one year for my birthday and I bought him a NFL jersey in return for his birthday. This would be the same thing and in no way against Disney policy.

Generally the Socal deal is the SoCal APs. Do note that the current Socal Deal does have expiration limits. Also with the Disney blog announcement Disney said there will be new deals for SoCal residents, so something better may come up.
