Soarin

We just came back from WDW and it was decided that soarin is our family favorite ride. DD3   this ride!! She wanted to go on it over and over. If you have a huge fear of heights it might be bad but if you are just a little afraid I say go for it. I do not like heights but I love this ride.
Good luck.

I was a little nervous about the height but was able to relax once the ride started. I think if you sit in the back row when loading it goes the lowest when it rises.

I don't have a fear of heights, so I can't comment on that one....but my family thought this was the all-time best ride EVER!!!! I have NEVER felt so exhilirated! And my 4 year-old DD (who hated Splash Mountain) LOVED it!! :Pinkbounc

My 3yr old LOVED it

I don't have a fear of height but I can't see how it would be an issue, even though you are lifted up some toward the screen, it isn't very high.

Loved it! Loved it! Its a new favorite of our family. You definitely get more of the "hang-gliding" feeling in the front row. DH rode again with DS, and they were on the second row. DH said he could see the feet of the people in front of him. A friend rode on the third row and said it was just like watching a movie. Maybe you should try the third row, and then if you do OK and have time move up for another ride.

Just back, rode on 1st, 2nd and 3rd row. 1st row is the best by far, no feet in front of you, the most realistic! It's a great, fun ride. There is a height requirement, 40" I think.

We absolutely loved Soarin', including DD4 and husband who hates flying and has a fear of heights. If you have child under 40 inches, baby swap takes FOREVER on this ride. It took us well over an hour to baby swap with FP. Totally worth the wait, but DS2 was bored half to death. There is a Kidcot stop in The Land building that took up some of our waiting time but we mostly went up and down the escalators about 500 times. I understand the height requirement, but I wish DS2 could have gone on this ride. He would have LOVED it!

I am not sure what you are qualifying as preschoolers, but my 5 year old daughter rode it and she thought it was wonderful and would have ridden it all day if her brother didn't talk her into going back to Mission Space. It is very gentle and the children are kept very safe. The scariest thing that happens is probably when you are elevated into postion. After that, my kids and I had fun lifting our feet as we flew over mountain tops and trees.

As long as they are tall enough, they should be fine. BTW, this is my new favorite ride a Walt Disney World.

I get car sick extremely easy.... not sea sick as i am a Harbormaster... just car sick. I have promised my DGF that i will take Dramamine and go on Soarin, Rock N' Roller Coaster, and Mission Space. How would you Rate Soarin on a scale of 1 (carosel)-10 (mission space) of Motion "sickability"

I have a fear of preschoolers, but was fine on Soarin'.

:rotfl:

My DS4 thought it was great, he really enjoyed it. My husband gets motion sickness, and hates heights, but was fine, not even a little growl from his stomach!! My DH motion sickness is more optical than actual movement, if that helps. He is fine on something like Rock n Roller coaster, but finds Star Tours very nauseating. We were in the first row, which is the highest, but my husband didn't notice the height at all. If height is an issue try and get on the 3rd row. Personally I would rate this less sick inducing than Cinderella's carrousel, purley because I hate going round and round like that. You do feel like you are gliding over trees and water, but it's not bumpy like Star Tours.

It is a wonderful addition to Epcot, I highly recommend it for anyone. It's so relaxing too!

If you don't get sea sick, I don't think Soarin would bother you are all. I don't think it is anything like being in a car.

I rate it 0-1 ona scale of 10

rate 2-3 out of 10 for Mission Space

and maybe 3-4 out of 10 for RRC

For me, none of them bothered me. I am not a huge fan of spinning round and round or drops like TOT but none of those 3 rides affected me at all.

We also loved this ride. All of us had smiles on our faces the entire time...just couldn't help it.

They do have the child-swap on this ride. We used it with our baby and it was quick and easy. It's an option if you have a child you are scared to take on it....maybe one of you could ride it first and then some/all of you depending on the size of your family could go back and ride it again. Saves you the time of waiting in the long line twice.
