Soarin'

My mom is really prone to motion sickness, and she loves Soarin'. The only part that gets to her is at the very end. Where you are flying over Disneyland and the fireworks go off and you kinda shake. She closes her eyes at the end and she was fine.

I do this same thing. Soarin is one of my favs but I can't handle that scene. I also close my eyes during part of Philharmagic. The only rides I absolutely can't do at WDW are mission Space ( even green) and ToT. Both left me feeling miserable for quite a few hours.

Do those bands really work? I've heard mixed reviews.
definitely not a cure all for me but I do think they help. I noticed the biggest difference when we're driving and I need to turn around to do something for the kids. I have the psi bands and have never tried a different brand. There were a couple of times I have combined it with bonine and felt ok after tower of terror and rock n roller coaster.

I was standing in line for Soarin' in front of a family where one member was scared to death of flying. The guy had already turned paper white, and was sweating through his shirt. The family was urging him NOT to get on the ride, but he insisted.

My family was not happy this guy was going to be on the ride with us, fearing if he was above us, and got sick.... Thankfully, we paid attention to where they sat, and stayed as far away from them as possible!!! I don't know how he felt during the ride, because we lost them, but I know he didn't puke! Not really helpful, but if someone was that bad before getting on, and made it through, I think anyone could! ;)

I have felt a little queasy on it sometimes. I just shut my eyes and count to 10 (or 100) and bam it's over. I think part of it is the quality of the film unfortunately. Anyway it is short and mild, so any discomfort will be unlikely, and if it happens, short lived :)

Video really can impact motion sickness for me. Soarin' was okay, but it wouldn't have been if it had been much longer. My husband gets motion sick on the carousel and can barely even watch the tea cups. He was fine on Soarin'.

For comparison, the Busch Gardens Williamsburg version of Soarin' had me so sick. Closing my eyes didn't even help; I had to look sideways at a wall that I could tell was not moving. After that ride was the only time I ever had to take motion sickness medicine in a theme park.

One that did bother me was Star Tours. I had to look away from the screen completely during certain parts. I never got over that, but rode it anyway.
:thumbsup2

Star Tours is one ride I won't do again. No. I was able to recover with some water and cool air, thankfully, but never again.

My son LOVES ST:TAC he has done it over 20 times in a single day (26 was his record) of which 20 or so times was with Dad. Mom, and his Aunt took him a few times.

So I guess I'm pretty much totally immune to ST induced sickness.

I was nauseous for an hour after Mission Space: Team Orange and I won't even go near Tower of Terror because I know it would do a number on my stomach. However, I have NEVER had a bad time on Soarin'. It is very smooth, and the sensation of flying is wonderful.

I've never had a problem on Soarin, and I get motion sickness big time. I cannot ride Mission Space Orange.

We rode the original Star Tours back in 2000. My dad, my little sister, myself and my mom. 2 minutes into the ride, I hear my 13 year old sister say "Daddy, I feel sick". My dad and I were sitting there with our eyes closed, and all we could tell her was "Britten, just close your eyes." It was the longest ride of my life! So we get off the ride, my dad and I are stumbling around, my sister is about to throw up, and my mother yells "THAT WAS AWESOME, LET'S DO IT AGAIN!"
