Soarin

Does anyone know how high you get off the ground from each row? My son is scared of heights, but insists he really wants to try it this year. May calm his nerves if i can say 'well this row is only X feet from the ground'.

I felt like I was going to have a heart attack when I went on it :rotfl: I was fine in the queue and when I sat down but as soon as my feet started dangling as I was holding on for dear life lol. I'm not scared of heights though I just don't like my feet not touching the ground. Pretty sure it doesn't go too high and it's dark anyway so you can't really tell

Its not very high but if you are in the front row it obviously goes higher then the other two rows and rises steeply to its position. But if you glance down you are only really about two thirds of the height of the screen. I remember my MIL grabbing my arm rather quickly and hard as it took off but as soon as the smoke cleared from around us she was fine and really enjoyed it.:)

My son LOVED it. Rode twice, first time bottom row for nerves, got off and he said that was awesome, we have to ride the top row next time!! So proud of him!! He also rode RnRcoaster for the 1st time. Very very very scared, almost to the point of seeing if i could stop before they sent us off to get him out. Turned the corner and sat waiting for countdown, he was shaking, i don't wanna do this mantra coming from beside me. Just told him it will be over quick, you never have to ride again. We took off, hit the dark, he's screaming to get off, first flip a few turns and OH MY GOSH, THIS IS AWESOME!! I WANNA RIDE AGAIN!! so we get off, have 2 extra FP's for it and he goes again!! Still can't convince him to do HM though, go figure!!

Awww, am SO glad he enjoyed it!! :) Am hoping to get my son on Soarin' as I REALLY want to go on it and won't have anyone to leave him with if he doesn't want to. I won't pressure him though. Just keeping my fingers crossed (lol!) :)

First time we rode Soarin - it was a WOW... 5 trips later I also consider it 'Snoarin' don't get me wrong, it is a good attraction but I fail to see why it still draws such ridiculous waiting times, the video is now dated and grainy.. in the grand scale of things it should not cost that much to give this flight a face lift - not like the fantasy land expansion or even the mega refurb of Test Track.

This ride could be so much more... perhaps it is just the lack of attractions in Epcot that see this ride form such long queues but it is in urgent need of new video - and why not a variety of 'flights' - like on star tours - this attraction has the potential to be so much more...

Top middle is the best... unless you have a fear of hights.... you are quite high up and with the screen in front of you it seems worse, if you got a fear take row 3 far ends, that way you can look to the sides of the screen which distorts the illusion of flying and are in the lowest row.

I totally agree it has so much potential to be more then it is, and bring back the magic of what I felt when I 1st rode it and was wowed!!
It's a shame as the music score is beautiful and really reminds me of disney & Epcot when I hear it :)

It is so exciting, but I thought it was going to a lot worst since they said if you were afraid of weights.
