The DL website says not to ride Soarin' while pregnant. I rode it a few years ago and remember it as a very smooth ride...but I could be wrong.

I'll be in WDW in May and was hoping to ride Soarin' when it opens there, but I'll be 27 weeks pregnant. I won't risk it if Disney says not to, but I am curious to know how bumpy this ride is...from those of you who have ridden it recently. Thank you!

I've had bumpier rides on the bus. I wouldn't miss it if I pregnant, but it's a very personal choice.

I was just on it and it was not bumpy - I think a drive in the car would be bumpier. It gently lifted us up and put us down....I would ride it pregnant.
Also...I didn't know they were doing a soarin' at WDW - is it soarin' over florida???

I'm trying to figure out what their concern would be. Its not bumpy in the least, not fast, not scary...hmm. Maybe there is a small concern about the seat belt over the belly? I'd go ahead and ride it, but then again I was giving folks a heart attack by playing softball until my 8th month. Hey, my doc said I could continue with whatever activities I was already doing, as long as I didn't have any discomfort. He didn't say anything about the discomfort of others. :confused3

I think that Disney is being super careful so they don't get sued by anyone for any reason. You basically just sit there. The only ride part is when it lifts you up and then puts you back down - not much too it. I went on a helicopter when I was two months preg I am sure that was much worse and I survived (and so did my baby who is 7 now!). Do what you think is best. Have fun!

I agree with what was posted above. I was really surprised that they also say not to ride if you have neck, back or heart problems. My mom who recently had a heart attack and I are planning a trip next Sept. and this is her favorite ride, I keep scratching my head trying to figure out how it could be dangerous. I think you could have the same experience at a movie theater, and they don't have warnings. Wish I knew why? Is there something anyone can think of that we are missing on why this would carry the warning?

You'll get more bumps in the queue - not in any way bumpy or dangerous.

The only risk could be a bit of motion sickness, which I sometimes get in those simulator type rides - I just close my eyes for a few seconds to cut out the visual stimulus and it fixes it.

In these sad days of people winning millions for tripping over cracks in pavements I reckon Disney is just being super cautious so they can protect themselves.

I was there in December at 26 weeks pregnant and I rode it. I had no idea it was on the list of "don't's" but I can't imagine why it would be. It's my very favourite ride and I certainly have no concerns. Little baby didn't object either ;)
I would have no worries about riding it now at 34 weeks either!
Enjoy!!

Personally if they have a warning there is a reason. The CM's may or may not stop you from riding it but do you really want to take that risk? What if something DOES happen are you willing to live with that guilt for a few minutes of fun on a Disney attraction?

While it is not a jerky ride there are several dips and swoops.

As for the ride- It'll open with Soarin' over California as its DL/DCA's "gift" to WDW for the 50th- Itll get its own film after the birthday

I rode this many times two years ago when I was about 5 months pregnant.

If there had been a warning at that time, I would not have rode it. I was being extra cautious from day one of my pregnancy. They must have added that warning recently. Also, no CMs stopped me from riding and I was very visibly pregnant!

That said, I can't imagine why a pregnant woman can't ride. Very smooth! But then again, Disney has to cover their behind, right?
