When are they going to replace the actual film at soarin' at WDW???
We have noticed a steady deterioration of the quality over the past few years and until they replace it I don't think I'll be wasting my FP+ option on it this September.

Come on Disney, change the film already to a new print and let us enjoy the ride like it was intended in all its glory!

If anything has deteriorated, it's probably the screen rather than what is projected on it, though their technology of choice is probably a bit out of date now anyway.

While the screen is definitely showing the panels, nothing is more distracting than all the dust and specs on the film itself that get blown up to the size of basketballs on that gigantic screen.

With all of the defects it is still a magical ride an engineering master work. The movie is the original piece of art do we always need perfection can't we just enjoy the magic and imagination.

I'm all about enjoying the experience at any Disney parks, but as prices continue to increase, everything should be maintained. Especially as this is a park with a lack of e ticket rides, the premier ride in the park should be kept up and maintained as much as possible

Rode this last year and my first thought when the ride started was "Wow they really need to replace this screen!" It looked pretty bad. Hopefully they fix this soon but as with most stuff that needs to get fixed over there I tend not to hold my breath for very long.

I agree they need to update this. Rumors have been swirling about WDW adding more screens. If this is true they can add these additional flights...once completed they can refurb the old ones and then move to full operation. Considering this is a really popular attraction I could see this happening. They also could add different flights so it isn't just a trip through Cali to DL.

I hear they have pledged to maintain the same level of quality as the Tee-Shirts in Mousegear! You know. The ones you can see through because the fabric is so thin!

Hahahaha

2015 Disneyland is supposed to be getting their new updated film as they go to 4k high definition projectors as well. Disneylands was supposed to happen this year but it got pushed back. I would assume WDW would be soon after Disneyland gets theirs because theirs is even older than WDW.

We are waiting until the new film and projection system is in place before we return to DL. It is a great ride, but living in California we would like to see some different scenery.

I would assume that they would roll out the new film to DW soon after DL was up an running, has anything been officially announced about the DL dates?

We haven't ridden it in our last 3 or 4 trips for this very reason. The illusion is ruined by the horrible film quality. That and the fact that the line moves so slow, anyone waiting for you might think you've actually gone hang-gliding.

Haha :rotfl2: that is great. Can't tell you how many times I have lost people in this line. Plus cell service cuts out half way up so you are totally out of contact.

It's hard to enjoy when the dust ruins the illusion.

I read some rumors online that there will be an HD version of the film at DW this summer & a new Soarin' around the world in 2015. One can only hope because the quality does ruin the effect.:scratchin

I feel we will see it late 2015 early 2016. Here's hopin!

just today I saw a post on inside the magic and they said filming for the new film should be finished by March 12th so by that I would assume probably a very early 2015 refurb for soarin. I wouldn't expect it yet this year because I don't think they want to do it for high crowd time so probably January or February we will see it go to Disneyland and soon after maybe April time go to WDW. Just a thought I know disney is focusing on fixing up Disneyland for their 60th anniversary next year.

I thought it was just me..... and my dodgy eyesight.

Come on Disney, why cant they do like they did with star tours and have many different versions, you just don't know what you'd get until strapped in.:thumbsup2

California has so many truly magical locations they would have a long list to choose from.

Also flying over Florida especially the Everglades would be fantastic.

:cheer2:

I'm all for enjoying the ride, but I also expect it to be maintained and updated ......it is a main attraction after all.

the funny thing is Disneyland does not see the wait times that WDW sees for this attraction though. It's regularly over an hour wait time for it at WDW but it's regularly under an hour even 30 minutes and less at Disneyland. Thats a lot of their attractions and they do see a few million less than Epcot but it's still not a craze like it is in WDW. The big one I notice a huge difference is toy story mania they never have the long wait times for that attraction like DHS has.
