How intense is Soarin'?Is there a "fear-of-heights" or "motion-sensitivity" factor? How popular is this attraction at Disneyland?Could it become Epcot's most popular attraction? Thanks. :)

I think it could become the most popular attraction but I hope not. I love this ride!!!! I did feel strange with the height the first time I rode it. I was in the front row and that goes the highest towards the screen. If you have a problem with heights sit in the last row.

There isn't a lot of motion like Star Tours or other rides, you just feel like you are hang gliding.

You will love Soarin!!!!

I was in DL in September and we rode Sourin' at least four times (one of my DS age 7 favorites). I wouldn't call it a "thrill" ride in the scary sense at all. If someone is super-sensitive to heights, they might have a problem, but my DH is afraid of heights and was fine. It will definately be a popular attraction-- can't put my finger in it exactly but it really turned out to be one of my favorites as well. The special effects are good-- you feel the wind on your face, smell the oranges when you pass over orange trees, etc., but they are very subtle, not in your face like the 3-d stuff. The cinematography (sp?) is very good. No real sudden movements or anything.

Soarin is awesome - in my opinion one of Disney's top 3 rides! I am a huge chicken and scared of most thrill rides, but Soarin isn't scary to me at all. I agree with the sit in the last row concept...it doesn't go up as high as the first or second rows. The only drawback to this row is that you can see people's feet dangling in front of you. The front offers the best view, but goes the highest. Some scenes make you feel like you are high (with the Imax technology) - I think if you were nervous though, closing your eyes would help!

DH and I went on Soarin' in CA in February.

I absolutely loved it!!!!!

DH almost got sick! He could not get off that ride soon enough!!! He does a problem with heights, but I think it was more of a control issue. The fact that his feet were dangling was much too much for him.

The first summer DCA was open, when it was persistently falling short of all attendence projections, even as they kept lowering them, on day I went in August the stand-by line was posted at 180 minutes at noon. The fastpasses we got had a return time around 6 PM.

Cheers.

I've been to Soarin' in DL and its not exactly a thrill ride. The most excitement comes when you first lift off the floor and into position to watch the movie. Your legs do hang freely from the seat you are strapped in and than can be a bit disconcerting if you don't like heights. The ride does have some movement but we're not talking Teacups or Star Tours here. It's basically smooth sailing or umm... soarin. :)

:rotfl: DexH road Soaring and he had an episode like Vertigo. I think he missed work for 2 days after that. What a wuss!!! :rotfl2:
We liked it and I am a little afraid of heights. I didn't know that Epcot was getting this. When?

Is this something that will cause motion sickness? My dad won't ride anything, and I think they are going with us. He's scared of roller coasters, but rides like the tea cups and things like that make him sick.

I think Soarin' does have a height requirement, but not sure what it is right this moment. This is one of our favorites at DL. One time when we rode it, a woman from Australia was frightened by it and cursed through the whole flight, so it effects people differently.

I rode Soarin' twice when I was at DCA a couple years ago. It was awesome. I am really looking forward to it opening at Epcot. One minor warning: if you are wearing loose shoes (like loafers or flip flops) be careful. I was wearing somewhat loose loafers the day I went and as I hung in the air, I worried about the shoes falling off and hitting people below me (I vaguely recall that they have somewhere to stow the shoes during the ride, or you can just leave them on the floor, but the first time I rode the ride, I did not think about this and, thus, spent some time worrrying about my shoes falling off).

I am terrified of heights but I do fine on Soarin.Take off gets my tummy a little weirded out but after that I am fine. We all love it, it is so fun! My Mom (57) said she would pay the price of admission to DCA just to ride this ride over and over all day long! LOL!

I get motion sick (mostly just nausea feeling) from simulator rides like Body Wars and Star Tours...does Soarin' have the same type effect? Sounds awesome...I just don't want to end up nauseous!

If you are feeling sick or afraid at all, all you would have to do is close your eyes because you barely move at all.

I know this is coming on May 5th, does anyone know where it will be located and will it have fast pass?
I signed up for TGM, but he doesn't seem to have it listed yet, or I missed it in his cluttered website.
I know there are some attractions from other Disney locations coming too, I would love to know where those are (but not trying to steal a thread)

When is Soarin supposed to be opening at WDW? At which park? Where in the park?

Opening this spring, for the big celebration. It is going into Epcot..where The Land is. The old Food Rocks show area is the general spot where the que will be, if my info is right. Can't wait for this one to open!!!

Hi!

Have done Soarin' in CA several times, and it was my favorite attraction there. You don't get tossed around like Star Tours, but there is a definite feeling of hang gliding, which is exhilarating. Of course, if you are an acrophobic you may definitely have a sense of panic - but unlike Mission: Space, on this one you can close your eyes if you need to...
