Hello everyone!

I will be in WDW from May 24-31 2016, and I was wondering if there will be a soft opening of Soarin' Around The World. I was at the Rock Your Disney Side event, and they did a soft opening of 7DMT, and I wasn't sure if there would be a similar occurrence.

Maybe if a CM read this, they could answer?

I won't tell...

Thanks!

Probably not with the new movie since Shanghai has the rights to show it first but you never know.

If Soarin is open at all while you're there, it'll be the old film. Shanghai is debuting the new film first on June 16th, then WDW is debuting it on June 17th.

Word is Shanghai funded most of the money for the new film, so they have a deal where they get to show the film before anyone

I emailed WDW executive offices this week and received a call back. No definite answers about Soarin soft openings but Winston (the man who called me) said "if there are soft openings, it will be with the old film" which we all already knew. So there ya go...haha. :)

We are there the week of June 6 and I will be thrilled if it is open, even with the old film!!

This is exactly us, too. I loved old Soarin and saw it several times, so I can't wait to see the new film! But we are bringing my 13 year old sister-in-law for her first (maybe only) trip, and I would be so happy if they ran the old version... Any version!

One of the rumors @rteetz posted is that Soarin' might open Memorial Day weekend with the old movie and the new movie not until after it debuts in Shanghai.

Ok. Great! I still want to see Soarin', new movie or not.

I didn't know about the Shanghai agreement, but it makes sense.

Thanks!

I hope it opens with the old movie before Memorial Day. We are there the week before and everything is opening Memorial Day weekend.

On the chance that Soarin' opens with the old movie over Memorial Day weekend for soft openings, do you think that FP will be available, or is it just something to try and catch in standby?

Once it's open, FP will likely be made available.

Is Soarin' keeping the same music with the new movie? We hope so!

It can't really keep the "same music" as that track was specifically written for the California scenes (as in, remember the "Mexican flavored" section as the gauchos ride their horses.)

But, word is that the new composer (I'm hoping that it's Bruce Broughton**) has kept the principle theme melody of the original Jerry Goldsmith score.

**Click Here to see Bruce Broughton conducting his theme to the film Silverado.
In addition to writing film and TV music (he has won 10 Emmy's,) Mr. Broughton has scored the music for several of the attractions at Disney parks.

Was just noticing, we will be at the Swan/Dolphin at the same time!! Can't wait!

I can see june 16th having a soft opening starting in the afternoon with the new film. (shanghai is in the future so technically shanghai closed for the night by the time we are eating lunch here).

I've been passing by when in epcot just in case they decide to do it quietly and only a few people here and there like they did with pirates.

Do you mean, if there's a soft opening Memorial Day weekend, there will be FP available?

I mean that when it "opens" there will be FP.

But, I don't know if Mem. Day will be considered a "soft opening"
or just an "opening with the original film." (That's the way it currently is at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim.)

Yeah. That makes sense. It is probably closed all this time for the 3rd theater addition.
