Soarin Sneak Preview

DW is afraid of heights, would this ride not be for her? Also, is there much movement in the cars, say, like the swinging motion of a ferris wheel? And, how high off the floor is the ride at it's highest point?

I think the front row seats are 40 feet off the ground. Ask to sit in row 2 or 3 if you think it's going to be a problem.

To answer about the movement part, I think they move, I know back and forth, but while watching the video, they move side to side, but they do move. And, you'll forget about the heights on the ride, It is amazing! :cool1:

Soarin' over Florida??? You've got to be kidding me!!! Geez that would be as exciting as watching paint dry. What would the highlights be? Buzzing aligators in the everglades? Buzzing topless sunbathers in South Beach? Maybe buzzing the Dolphin Stadium of Dolphin mall?

California offers great variety and the movie is great. Maybe someday they'll do an update of the whole Country...Or maybe the whole world, but please not just Florida. pirate:

Yeah, wonderfully diverse sights like the skyline of Compton. They could even add the smell of burning tires and spent smokless red dot. ;)

LOL WC! Thankfully they chose the likes of Big Sur, Carmel & Yosemite just to name a few...

We rode Soarin' twice at the WDW AP preview.
We had been on CA Soarin' not long after that had opened.
By luck of the draw we had always been seated in the first row -- except our last ride in Epcot. We were in the second row.
Other's feet were not that much of a distraction for me. I noticed the top of the screen a few times while sitting in the front. That was almost more of a distraction for me.
I thought the scents were much stronger in the second row than when we rode in the front.

The fact that the movie was the Left coast didn't really bother me at all. I just loved the ride in general. It would be nice to see some of the East coast as well..maybe in time. :)

Had a chance to ride it twice last week on 04/19/05. It was a great ride. The CM told us that the queue was designed to hold 3 hours of stand-bys in doors. Longest queue at any Disney park. The ride was incredible. Much better than I expected. You tilt front and back, side to side but nothing scary. We sat in row 1 and 3. 1 is the row to be in because it goes the highest.

Hey! I wonder if they took the smell-o-vision unit out of the Horizons ride for the orange scent when they destroyed that one, and put it in Soarin' ? Heck, it would be right in line with Ei$ners nickel and dime-in everything at the parks. :teeth:

After riding this a few weeks ago, I have to say that this is one of the few new attractions that both adults and kids find "thrilling" without being rough or fast at all. It is nearly a perfect ride in Walt's vision of having an attraction that the whole family can enjoy.
