Soarin' SB+ test...Fail

To the bolded: we would all like exactly that. I mean, who wouldn't? But, the bolded is the tree - capacity is the forest.

I highly recommend going back to all of the capacity work by bcrook and the group - or re-read the post in this thread by hopemax (incl. the link) - or, if you're so inclined, do a little research on the subject mistysue brought up a few pages back - it's spot on.

That's the numbers part. And really, to most folks - they're not that important. But what is important to most (including me) - is a little spontaneity in a vacation - the ability to just do what is in front of you, at that moment. That's not so much to ask, don't you think?

:thumbsup2

Aside from the whole "arriving at the park after all of the tickets have been given out for the day and just being turned away" rationale - which apparently isn't good enough for some people....hello spontaneity!

I don't *want* to have to plan my vacation down to the hour! Remember all those people who loved FP+ because they didn't have to wake up early and have FP runners anymore? I have *no* desire to have to run to rides first thing in the morning so that I am *allowed* to enter the standby line later in the day. We rarely make rope drop (usually around 930 or 10 or so if park opens at 9), we never did FP running...the idea of having to plan out my entire day is absolutely not appealing.

you know why I love Disneyland so much? Because I can walk by TSMM and think to myself "hey, I'd love to ride it right now. Wait's only 35 min? sure, let's go!". Or I can walk by the Matterhorn and say "hey, it's only 15 mins, let's go!". Oh and don't forget dining..I LOVE that I can walk up to Blue Bayou the day of and be seated! I may not get a water side table, but I don't have to know 180 days before that I want to eat there.

I have no issues planning which days I go into which parks...or even having a general idea of what attractions are "must dos" for us in a park on any given trip. But I do not want a vacation where I will be denied entry from rides if I am not there early enough in the day.

We love that SR line for Matterhorn! I'm a bit partial to water side at BB, that's easy to get at 60 days out, 11:30 ADR; Disneyland Resort has my heart :lovestruc

Well that was interesting. And then there is the mention of this happening at TSMM next in that article. :scratchin

The unannounced line change at Soarin' was bad but I think there will be meltdowns of epic proportions if they do this at TSM. Parents are already stressed and little kids that could not ride Soarin can ride TSM. Can you imagine parents walking up with cranky kids and then being told they can't stand in line? The parents will lose their minds. Some here said to do something else but hauling kids around a park is not the easiest thing in the world. Then this will take place at DHS where there is precious little to do in the first place.:crazy2:

I still think they are gearing up for all-reserved, all the time. Now they have tested this at their busiest venues- A&E for the meet-n-greet, Soarin for attractions, and BOG lunch for QS (I read this, can't remember where, but they were doing SB+ so you don't have to wait IN the line for BOG at lunch). Maybe they won't do it for ALL guests, but I can see Disney offering all-reserved for deluxe guests, or for an additional price.

I keep coming back to the money that was spent on MM+. They spent WAY too much for it to be just for FP+/MBs; even adding SB+ doesn't justify the expense (heck, they already HAD SB+, just called it FastPass!). Offering all-reserved to deluxe resort guests probably won't effect the bottom line; people already are more than willing to pay deluxe prices. My guess is they will offer this as an add-on service. Think about it… would you pay $100 additional, per person per day, to guarantee not waiting in line more than, say, 15 minutes at ANY attraction? $200? More? How else is Disney going to justify the money spent on MM+, while increasing bed space without building new attractions?

Don't worry they are throwing darts at the dart board as we speak to come up with the next great idea. I'm sure it will be fine. :lmao:

:lmao:

You know it's only funny because it feels so true! :rotfl:

Quite simply? No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't pay anything for that. I have absolutely no desire to have my vacation have as much of a detailed schedule (or more of one!) than I have at work. I don't think I'm an oddball in that either. Yes, people don't like lines...that doesn't mean they want to be 100% prescheduled in order to avoid them.

Personally, while I like the idea of no wait, I think this particular idea was not well thought out. It's essentially a return to the old FP system but worse. At least before FP didn't run out until afternoon on most days, and there was still a standby line, so you still had the option to ride if you didn't mind waiting. With this test system, it was either be there very early or you don't get to ride, period.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I still can't get over this test on Soarin'... and w/o notice... even after having a few drinks and partially recovering from my perfect storm of F&W booking / FP+ booking / Soarin' test shock... :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

Will we see this system being implemented in the parks in the next 12 to 24 months? We really don't think so.

Fingers crossed! Eesh!

Seems so dicey to do with attractions -- people never knowing when the SB+ will run out, and thus their option to even wait in line gone. Seems to me that waiting in line standby should ALWAYS be an option -- whatever OTHER things they do to manage crowd flow.

My kids have an academic competition in Orlando this Spring. We're definitely doing Universal and avoiding the Disney FP+/SB+/MM mess.

So no TSMM test today I guess?
I guess there is always tomorrow :sad2:

More show tunes?

The sun'll come out tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow
there'll be sun
Just thinkin' about tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow till' there's none

Did I go to far?

How about "The test will come out tomorrow"?

Because I have the feeling this isn't the last we will see of it........

You are so late to the party, Flip. I sang that yesterday. Not to be confused with...

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday

;)

Current wait time for TSMM is 85 minutes....so no test.

But isn't 85 minutes a "moderate" wait for that ride? :rotfl2:

One day more,
Another day of Fastpassin',
This never ending road to Soarin';
Disney keeps on closing lines
"Closed to capacity" on all the signs,
One day more...

That's ALMOST high enough drama to capture the sentiment... ALMOST...

You people are cracking me up.
And Annie is one of my favorites :)

"Standby lines
Standby lines
Everywhere I turn I can see them

Some day I'll make them take tickets
Some day I'll make them go shop!"
