I know I may be nit-pickin' here, but has anyone else noticed the "excess" of black spots on the video portion (Both sides) of Soarin'? It seems to be getting worse with each of our visits. Most recently, in October and before that in June and May. Just thought I'd throw it out there for dicussion. :listen:

Yes, we have noticed. Once we even saw a big dead fly floating around on the lens!

It's unfortunate that this seems to be deteriorating so quickly.

Yes, I've noticed it for a while now. And worse than the black spots is the deterioration of the film itself on the bottom right-hand corner. Streaks of white and a light discoloration is becoming apparent.

Hopefully this will help expedite the process to film a WDW version instead of using the California version. ;)

It's still a great ride though. They have to fix it soon, however. The video is everything for this ride.

Yes; Friday night I noticed a huge area of black "spots" (looked like screen wear?) to the left. We were in good ol' B-1 but the folks on the side probably had a marred view.

i did notice that the quality of the film was not as crisp as in DCA

Same here. I've noticed it and am VERY surprised this is acceptable on such a new attraction (no matter if the film is old or not).

Though the attraction is still great, I DO believe it takes away from it somewhat. It's very distratcting at certain points and sort of takes you away from the feeling that you are flying.

I notice it heavily during the snow skiing scene..........it just really looks poor.

Wow...i thought it was just me. We rode for the first time in August, and I noticed that there were black spots on the film. I was surprised that Disney would run it in such a condition.

I'm surprised that they still use film! After all, Disney paid for theaters around the country to install digital projection systems a couple of years ago (I forget for which movie); I'd think they would adapt their own technology for a crystal clear projection in their own facilities!

I thought the same thing.

I noticed the spots last weekend, right before the scene when you are following the hang glider. This was also the moment when the video image went black and we continued the ride in complete darkness with the soundtrack and the simulation still going. They did not get the video working again so they moved us to the other theater, eventually. :sad2:

I think I recall the poor quality image on my first visit there, shortly after its opening a year or so ago (when did WDW Soarin' open?). It was much poorer quality than DCA.

That was the 1st thing that struck me when on this ride ... the washed out image quality. The dirt/dust streaks running top to bottom along the left and right thirds of the screen didn't help either.

I notice them too, too bad. Soarin needs a refurbishment!!
