Spoiler alert. If you don't want to know about the ride, do not read this thread.

I did not understand the scents in the new Soarin. I think the elephant scene smelled like grass. I couldn't figure out what the scent was at the temple. The only other scent I noticed was at the Fiji beach, but it only smelled like really cheap air freshener without any particular scent. Does anyone know what the scents are supposed to smell like and if I missed any?

yeah....i think they went for kind of a mango scent in Fiji....but definitely a grass smell with the lephants

Elephant scene is definitely a grass scent. I believe the scent during the Taj Mahal scene is a rose scent, and Fiji is supposed to be a tropical/ocean scent. To me it smells like the Bath & Body Works version of tropical :)

Too funny.... "floral / roses over India".....hearing stories from those who've travelled there.....not quite accurate.....#3rdworldplumbing, 'nuf said.

Right, my husband kept joking about what they would pump in for India, lol.

My family thought the elephant scene smelled like grass. I think it smells like mildew and dirt, like in flowerbeds with too much water LOL. I don't know what the floral scent was at the Taj Mahal, but I had 'lotus' in my mind because it's exotic. I used to have a perfume that was made from lotus so that's probably why.

That is exactly what we all thought. Dirt. It smelled like it does if you get a cloud of dirt in your face around where we live, or if there is a dust storm. I had no clue it was supposed to be grass until I saw that written somewhere after we rode it. We were very underwhelmed with the scents. We didn't particularly care for them. Seems like there was an ocean one that smelled similar to the old Soarin, but we all really missed the Oranges!

As far as the ride itself, we did like it, other than the fact we really missed the orange scent and being able to see the Christmas parade in the shots of Disneyland at the end.

I haven't been on the new version yet, but I know I'll miss the old scents. I really liked the original.

I actually didn't like the ride aside from the animal scenes. I loved the old version. I'll only go on this again if someone I am with wants to go on it.
The Eiffel Tower was bent and I could see the top of the screen where it was cut out. Not being able to tell what I was smelling was a contrast to the former version where it was obvious orange and pine trees. I also thought the old version was just more exciting like things were actually happening vs. just watching a movie. Maybe that was because of where I was sitting, but the experience was nowhere close to what it used to be for me.

Although I still enjoyed it and would definitely ride again, I do agree with this. The experience is better if you are in the middle of the theater. The curves are not as exaggerated. The scents were ok, but they didn't fit in as well in the newer version. It was almost as if they said, "Ok, people are going to expect scents. Where can we throw a couple in?"

Agree. I way prefer Soarin' Over California! Maybe someday they will bring it back. pooh:
