I do this all the time and don't see a problem with it. We're all going to be in the same car anyway so it's not like it slows down the process (for most rides, that is)

Hope you like wearing a flame suit.

50% of the people on here think its okay (because they have small kids)
and the other 40% don't say anything but only give dirty looks (not worth interupting vaction over)

So you have a 90% chance of being sucessful.

But, if you are unlucky-enough to not have a baby or small child handy (or as we call them- get out of jail free card) :teeth: Just get a babydoll that cries like a real baby and I'd say you're ready to cut all the lines at Disney..... untill Disney or the Public wise up and stops it once and for all

;) :teeth: :rolleyes1

Actually, one of those *my size* Barbies may be better. More like the size of a toddler... :bitelip:

I think the plethora of smiley faces would indicate the joking nature of the post....come on people, it is ok to laugh (even about line cutters!!!)

Oh, you'd be amazed at what some parents will do. I once saw a woman insist that she should be allowed to sit in the disabled section of the Hunchback theater because she had an infant.

I have a friend who used to work Fastpass, and she told a story about this one parent who argued that she should be let into the Fastpass line and not the standby queue, even though she didn't have Fastpasses. It went on and on, and her final point, the one that meant my friend should have just let her in, was that she HAS KIDS.

I agree with the OP - it is rude. Why should you wait another 5-10min when THAT family could have and stayed together.

I will say that either DH and I wait in line while we let 4yr old dd run around and keep busy but this is only lines where we can actually see the line (like Peter Pan, Dumbo - boy that wait is LONG!) and we can easily jump back in when we need to at an in and out..

If the line goes inside (say Soarin, Philarmagic, Buzz) and the only way to "catch up" is by pushing thru everyone, we wait in line all together.

My kids - 5,8,9,- are definately big enough to wait, and when they weren't, we waited...though not too long ususally because we went early and basically used the UG plans (or at least the strategies).

That said, I would not be bothered by a family with young children who didn't wait in line together. Like the OP said, if they are only using one boat or car or elephant, what difference does it make?

Maybe I'm crazy, but line cutters don't really bother me. If someone is in that big of a rush to see an attraction - let 'em in!! I'm not gonna let them ruin my vacation.

Now, drivers who cut me off on the interstate - that's another story!!

:goodvibes

Unless the common goal of DISers is to see this thread reach 300 posts, I can't see the point of this one anymore. An above poster had it right: after all of this, we still pretty much have certain percentages who believe different things about line cutting, what are acceptable excuses for it, etc., and I can't see that anyone's opinions have changed. It's been interesting at times, but it's now just going around in logical circles.

I'll attempt to have the last word with a mixed metaphor: it's time to put this overly beaten dead horse six feet under.

For myself, I had definate thoughts on the subject at the beginning of the thread, and after reading it, have changed my stance on it...so I can't see how you can say this thread is pointless.

Anyways, I would have been one to say that any line cutting should be outlawed, but now I feel that there are certain circumstances where it makes sense. I also believe that it seems that Disney is handling the issue perfectly (laissez-faire) and that I hope they continue to loosely monitor it.

I am just scared that some little kid is going to pee on my shoe. SO please, feel free to get them to a receptacle that allows them to accomplish their goal without ruining my new sandals! Your place will be safe in front of me on your return. I will do so with a big thank-you! And if anyone gives you grief let the little man loose on their sneaks.......

I have really enjoyed reading this thread. I also did not realize how many people out there have bad manner and think they are special until I came to this website. For the most part everyone on here is extremely helpful and nice, but I happened to tell my bad disney experience on another thread and I could not believe the response. My family took a once in a lifetime trip to disney, when my daughter was 7. We were going over spring break and knew the parks would be terrible (with all the people), so we knew there were somethings we would be able to see and others we would not have time for. So we created a list of our must see things and made sure we got to do all of them. One was the night time parade on mainstreet in the MK. We arrived 2 hours early to get a spot, and at that point the street was already filling up. CMs had roped off the street and the lines were already 2 deep for a spot. So everyone in our party stood in our spots for those 2 hours before the parade to ensure we could see. When the parade started, the lines were probably 5 people deep and from the street to the shops were filled with people. A very rude man (in my opinion) shoved his way up behind me and proceeded to ask if his son could stand in front of me, where my daughter was standing. I told him absolutely not. I was not about to give up my spot or ask my child to give up hers so this man's kid could watch the parade. If it was a priority for him he should have had his son their earlier. Anyway, he decided the proper way to deal with my denial of his wish was to yell and swear at me for the entire parade. I was called every foul and awful name you can think of. At one point he was so mad I thought he was going to hit me. I could not believe this guy thought this is the proper behavior to teach his son. He completely blamed me for the fact his child could not see the parade, he certainly was not going to take any responsibility on himself for not finding it important enough to come early and wait to ensure the child could see.
I have a major problem with people like that, the one's who think they are special and everyone should do as they wish. But on the other thread I was told I was in the wrong because I did not give up my spot. I don't understand some people. :confused3

Maybe for about the first 150 posts, this thread was not pointless and had some interesting points, but now that we're knocking on the door of 300 posts, I say with much assurance that this thread has been going in circles for well over 100 posts by now.

Sorry, but it's time to close the padlock, bury the dead horse, say sayonara, burn the bridge, stick a fork in it, etc.

Did I leave out any hackneyed cliches?

Wow...I didn't read all 13 pages, but read the first few pages then talked to the people in my office about line cutting, and we all agreed that it's cutting if you push in front of people to "catch up" with your family and we are 100% in agreement that your family should let people pass so you can ride together if it's that important to you.

If I left a line for any reason, bathroom/sick child/etc, then I would forfit my place in line and start again from the end.....it's only the right thing to do. You know approximately how long the wait is when you step into that line, and if you don't feel that your child can hold it that long...don't get into the line...and yes...I have children, so I know that emergencies come up...but if they can't hold it...back to the end of the line we go.

Ok then, close the thread up. Oh wait, your not a mod? Oh, ok then. I guess the thread can go on? :confused3

"He completely blamed me for the fact his child could not see the parade, he certainly was not going to take any responsibility on himself for not finding it important enough to come early and wait to ensure the child could see. "

That is horrible. I know how it feels to be yelled at by some irate gentleman. You never get used to it. I hope that karma caught up to this character.

I never claimed to be a mod. But I am allowed to make requests that old, tired threads be closed to make room on these boards for newer ones. This thread has fallen under the category of old, tired threads and I hope a mod will lock it soon.

Ok, so your opinion is that thread is old, tired, pointless....don't you think others maybe enjoying it? I know I am. Maybe a private message to a mod to review would be the best way to police the boards? Although, the easier thing would be to skip over this thread and read something a little less dull, tired or pointless? I just don't get the need to call out all of the posters in this thread and tell them that their ideas, thoughts and opinions are pointless and tired? Excuse me, only the posters from post 150 and up fall into this category.

And yes, I am desperatley trying to get a last word in...so there....

Word.

There you go. Please pass me a :drinking1 over here on the return motion.

Okay, we're one post closer to 300 and a mod shut-down! Woo hoo.

Oh (just to disguise this post as something other than a shameless bump), as I said about 230 posts ago, I agree with the OP in that it was wrong for line cutters to shove their way to the front of the line.

Editing to add: I'm the 300th post!!!!!! Woo hoo!
