maybe you need to reread my post..i mentioned there could be emergency situations 2 times, this wouldn't apply to toilet training( which i did not intend to limit to a few months, i was more thinking of toddlers in general since accidents can happen for awhile after you think the child is "trained") and i also mentioned we go off season, when there are no appreciable lines, and it would be different if the lines were longer, my point being, the "my kid needs to go potty" excuse doesn't make much sense at that time yet people still cut in line which is what the quoted person imo alluded to, sometimes it's used as an excuse rather than a real reason.in fact i doubt most parents would have time to leave a line, take the child to the bathroom and get back before the others finished riding when we go,yet we see people cut in line over and over.

i didn't go back and check but i believe the person i quoted was referring to a previous post where no disability was involved with the child in question...

i could be wrong but i thought kids who can not wait in line due to something like autism can go in a different entrance so they don't have to wait..

sorry this riled you up, i think you read it differently than i intended it. :thumbsup2

I apologize if I misunderstood. I do agree completely with you that some people us it as an excuse to cut the line. That is very wrong. As far as autistic children- some people prefer not to use the GAC passes because they do not want their kid to be different from others - or- they are working on trying to change behaviors so waiting in line while taking a small break from it is helpful in their therapy. Sorry if I came across as angry. princess:

I am going to Disney with my 20 month old son. Since you cant take the strollers in line with you i will let my husband hold him on lines with long wait in the shade on a bench and then he will have to cut in line to be with me. I dont see anything wrong with that. I mean kids cant wait in line for 60 min like the rest of us thats why they cry and scream somtimes. My son will want to run away and it will be to warm and tiresome to hold him for that long.
This can hold true for older children and the elderly as well. I think in these cases it is o.k. can you really ask your 80 year old grand mother to stand in line and wait an hour in the hot boiling sun?
I do however feel it is wrong to have one person wait in line while 3,4,5,6,7,8....of the rest of you cut in line, thats not fair to others. If you have a small child or small children that find it hard to wait for long periods in the hot hot hot sun then let one person wait with them while the rest of you keep your place! Having groups of people cut in line is wrong wrong wrong!!!

the waiting areas for most rides i can think of are inside/ under cover so the people may be cooler in line than out.

i can not take heat which is why we go in winter , maybe in summer the lines are long enough to go out side, not sure about that. one thing i do know is wdw in summer is a different place than wdw in winter :)

I think your husband is going to get some seriously dirty looks as he attempts to catch up with you in line. And to answer your question about the not standing in the hot boiling sun for an hour, well, NOBODY should have to do that. Not just your kid.

There are rides you just don't do when it's too hot out and the line is too long. That's the solution, not making the rest of the kids in Disney wait in line while YOUR kid and hubby hang out in the shade...

I recommend picking up a copy of the WDW Unofficial Guide 2006. It has great advice and touring plans to avoid the long lines. If you don't want to take that route, then maybe a Tour Guide Mike subscription could help you out. We have done numerous Disney vaca's in the past and have never waited in a line more than 30 minutes (ride breakdown). We used the UG for our trip in 2000 and have had no problems with lines since.

am i the only one that thinks it paints a funny mental picture to think of seeing someone excuse themselves to get past 100 people in line so they can stay off line then jump in at the end?just can not picture the 1/2 hr of "excuse me excuseme excusemeexcusemeexcUSEME!" push, shove, push, shove, hop over the little kids, trip over grandma, push ,shove ...it would take to get up to the front while all 100 poison glares from the people you just past burn into your back:smooth: just can't see my self ever doing that if i had a legitimate reason much less cause me or my child would "rather not wait in line":rotfl2: ok i must be way left of center :rotfl2:

You must not be a Soarin' veteran, because I have seen just that behavior in the Soarin' queue every single time I have done the attraction. Sometimes it's one person, sometimes it's two or three together, and they don't usually say anything, they just walk past. Most people in the line don't block them, so very little "excuse me" or shoving is nessecary to get to the head of the line.

no haven't ridden this yet but they would have to shove past me and hubby...we'd make sure of that ;) although i guess if you are rude enough to cut why would i think you'd be polite enough to excuse yourself. the cutters we see are usually the duck under the rope type but figured that probably wouldn't be possible in busier times

I have been on Soarin' several times. The queue line is wide and it will take more than two people to block the cutters. You have the sneaky cutters and the bold cutters. DW isn't big, but I'm 6'1" 230# and believe me we can't block them. If you are thinking about not so wide queue's like BTMRR, Space Mt., Splash Mt. etc. two people can block the pathway, but Soarin' is much wider.

In response to the original poster. I absoultely agree. There are a very few reasons why there should be any cutting in line. But because you are a senior citizen behaving rudely is definitely not one of them. I can only imagine the comments people would make about me if i were to cut in line and would never even think about doing it. Its horrible! I know this is a dead issue because its been talked about soo much but i just thouhgt I should voice my opinion.

If everyone could just be patient things would probably work very smoothly.

I think the real issue isn't the families but the other people that cut in the lines, there are many "gangs" I have seen, groups of people, sometimes only just 2 or 3, laughing, or larger groups, obviously cutting, that are not at all going to catch up with someone. And is it just me or is it almost funny to imagine fighting with a little old lady who jumped you in line :rotfl2: , come on, I mean think of the mental picture, I agree it isn't right and it is annoying but come on, screaming and fighting with elderly going on a Disney line, oh my gosh! No they shouldn't do it but geeez. Now I'm going to Disney Fri and watch me end up getting annoyed at line jumpers, thats what I get hehe. :teeth:

I agree with the OP as well; there's no reason to shove past people - if you want to stay together as a group, get in line as a group. And while it's easy to rationalize that "it only adds a minute to your wait", if Disney keeps allowing this to happen, it will only get worse. Imagine one person from a group of 50 getting in line, then the rest cutting through 15 minutes later ....
I get so excited sometimes I rush up and get in line not paying attention to the fact my DH is back maybe 5 people. Guess what, he refuses to come join me lol. I have to go back where he is.

but in that case you would accualy HAVE been cutting those 5 people.

I guess I am not so "ready to fight" the few people I have seen because for one thing I have never been wittness to a group catching up. And like I said before I dont think letting one person catch up is earth shakeing. You just never know what is going on in a persons life.
And I am personaly not willing to get a black eye by telling someone that they cant be with there family. :hippie:

No I would not be cutting cause I am the person ahead, my dh would be though if he came to join me :hyper:

My rule has always been if you are big enough to ride the ride you are big enough to WAIT in the line. We have bypassed a few rides for that reason.(mostly at other parks) I would have a problem with the husband and child cutting the line IF they hadn't went back out past me like for an emergency potty run. My kids don't want to wait in a line any more than your child does, but lines are a part of the deal. Only once in all our trips with kids of all ages has anyone had to go to the BR while in line and we were all getting out of line and the CM said no I'll let her back in the rest of you stay in line. We went to a point in the line where it was the end of a row and waited there so she could get back easily and let others go past us till she got back. I always say before a long line "who has to go it's now or not till after"

All this and where are we at, some say it's ok and some say it's not ok.

I disagree with the OP. "Cutter's" does not need an apostrophe. Apostrophes show posession or abbreviation, not plurality.
