When High School Musical debuted on Disney Channel back in the 2000's little did we know that the movie would turn into a hit sensation and become one of the most successful TV movies. And when High School Musical premiered Disney Channel's ratings went sky high and introduced the world to Zac Efron Vanessa Hudgens Corbin Bleu and Lucas Gabreel and based on High School Musical's success it was seen on merchandise like dolls party supplies clothing and almost anything you could think of. And if you look at High School Musical you can see that it's essentially a younger version of Grease with Zac Efron being John Travolta and Vanessa Hudgens as Olivia Newton-John and based on the success of High School Musical Disney Channel pressed it's luck and debuted High School Musical 2 and just like Grease 2 I think Disney Channel wanted to create their own version of Grease and the same thing happened with High School Musical 2 with dolls and other merchandise. And High School Musical began to wane with the third and the fourth and final movie they knew that they had to do something else with the characters and that's why Sharpay Evans got her solo movie but even today High School Musical ranks as one of Disney Channel's most successful franchises with a TV series and lots more
