Soarin' is OVERRATED

I went on Soarin' for the first time this past Saturday and boy was I disappointed. If it weren't for the fact that I had a FP and only wait 15 mins I would probably thrown a fit when it was over. I cannot believe there are people who will wait 2.5+ hrs for this.

You will then ask why I did not like it. Well, it is just unimpressive. The actual movie is no different than a normal IMAX theatre and the "effects" of feeling like you are flying, i.e. the air blowing, slight movement, smells are pathetic. Lastly, the movie itself was poorly edited. I found it annoying that you jump from place to place to place without any rhyme, reason, or transition. I cannot imagine the feelings someone would have after waiting over 2 hrs for that...

Initially, what even drew me to want to do this ride in the first place was the technology of the ride mechanism, but I got to see/hear more about that on the Travel and History channel than actually in Soarin'.

I guess I can say now that I have ridden it, and now have formed my own opinion and I know others have their opinions. On the next trip, I will save my time for another round of MS or TT.

ITA!!!
Didnt bother going on it this last trip.
Ive been on better, similar rides at state fairs.

I rode it twice just a few weeks ago for the first time and really liked it. I agree the film was not as clean as I expected it to be, there were some gliches. But I really enjoyed the sensations of flying and especially loved going over Disneyland!
The way you feel about Soarin' is the way I feel about MS. I think it's a complete waste of time and space. I spent many months worrying about riding it and convincing DBF to go on it and it wasn't worth it in my opinion. I didn't find it thrilling, the best I can say about it is it was uncomfortable.
I guess everyone has their own tastes. :wave2:

I don't agree. I think Soarin' is very fun and relaxing. I love the part when you go over the ocean.

To each her/his own. :yay:

I would only go again with a fastpass. The wait in line was rediculous...over an hour!

Wow! I totally disagree! My family was blown away by it ( no pun intended) ! :sunny:

This is ABSOLUTELY how we feel--we just LOVE Soarin'! We go on it multiple times when we're at WDW and each time is SO exciting to us!! We clap when we are over DL and then all the way "back to earth." To each their own!

Agreed, I love Soarin', and Im usually a thrill ride junkie

me and my family felt the same way then everyone said how great it was I thought maybe I missed something and was going to try it again

I'd wondered about elements of Soarin' from what I'd seen on TV, and none of what you say surprises me at all. I'll still ride it, and likely love it, but now I won't feel guilty about it if I'm not OMG IMPRESSED!!!! :thumbsup2

It really is a matter of to each their own . . . I thought M:S was a lot of fun and would happily go on it again, but I was still expecting a LOT more than a Round-Up/Turkish Twist with a television screen and a button to hit. I'm sure the actual engineering is amazing and if I could see the ride and watch it in action from the outside I could probably stare at it all day (how do you shake a ride vehicle mounted on a centrifuge without unballancing the rotation?) but the ride experience itself? Meh. And while many people LOVE RNRC, I think it's pretty wimpy as coasters go and greatly prefer Space Mountain just for its classic design.

But WHO CARES? It's DISNEY!

no way..we LOVE Soarin! :sunny:

It is magical for us....I especially love the ending, riding "into" the fireworks!

IMHO I think that Soarin' is
one of the greatest rides in
WDW. I love everything
about it! But everyone is
entitled to their own opinion
:woohoo:

It's ok if you don't like it, more room for me, more room for me :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Oooooh, gotta disagree with the OP. We LOVE Soarin'. I have never been hang-gliding and at my age that's as close as I'll get. Don't mind the cheesy editing a bit. We love everything about the ride!

I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a ride. I could do away with all rides with any drops. Even Pirates. I hate drops! I thought Soarin' was very exhilarating, but I also think that it means more to people who live in CA than anyone else. I've been to most of the places they show, and that makes a difference. I heard that they were going to change it to Soarin' over America, has anyone else heard this?

I have to disagree. We would never do it without a fastpass though. (Not because of the ride, what I mean is that you have to be crazy to wait on a two hour line for anything.) I rode it in Caluifornia Adventure a few years ago, and I think it works better there because you are in California and on Disney property. It would be better with a Florida movie, but it is still great.

I love it. I've only been on it at DCA, not at the World yet but look forward to it. I don't think I'd do it without fastpass though.

Wow. We love it. We first went on it in May of '05 and have been on it many times since then, most recently last week. Last week was the first time we were ever lucky enough to get the first row and it made it even more enjoyable for us due to the fact that you didn't see feet dangling in front of you.

:thumbsup2 Couldn't agree more.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so it's good to know that there will be less people riding it and less wait time for me. It's a great ride! If you don't like it, don't do it, and don't complain about it. Complaining is overrated.
