Soarin-- IS it Scary??

I rode Soarin' in California. LOVE IT!!!  I even rode it while I was pregnant. It's so smooth and relaxing. The only problem I had was I had to be careful where to look on the screen. If I looked near the edges I got a little dizzy but, if I focused mostly on the middle of the screen I did great. Oh by the way, I forgot to mention I'm afraid of heights and flying.

You'll enjoy this ride. Can't wait until December I'll be riding it again.

Another post asked if her 4 yr old and 3 yr old could ride. I believe I saw a few little ones riding this ride. I do believe that there is a heigth requirement but, I can't remember for sure.

Is this a ride that is compatible with kids, DD4 and DS3. Is there a height requirement?

I'm pretty sure the height requirement is 40". My dd loved it when she was 4 (the one in Calif).

I'm afraid of heights but really want to try Soarin. Is it ok to ask a CM for row three? I don't want to hold up the loading and irritate the others trying to board.
I am also afraid of heights, even simulated heights. So of course I ended up in the front row. But I was fine, I don't know why but it was really okay actually really beautiful more than thrilling. I would do it again.

any ideas how high each row actually is off the ground , do you really get the effect in the third row or is the first better and why please

You go up pretty darn high, even in the third row, but you really can barely tell, especially since what you are watching is so incredible. I've ridden Soarin in California, in all 3 rows, and the only downside to being in rows 2 and 3 is that if you are easily distracted, you may notice the row in front of you is dangling their feet about 3 feet over your head - but it's really not bad. The cars you ride in are built so that, unless you really make an effort, you don't see below you, anyway. And the rise is so smooth, you can barely tell you're moving.

Actually, come to think of it, if you are afraid of heights, you may want to request the first row. Reason? There is NOTHING in front of you to distract you from the show, and you won't even notice that you're up high. Rows 2 and 3, as I said, may have the distraction of dangling feet in front of your line of sight, which will remind you that you're in midair :teeth: .

I love this ride, and can hardly wait to take my parents on it when we go in November. My mom is in a wheelchair, but can transfer to the seat, and she will just love this.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again ...

it's like a religious experience.

Seriously ... all the previous posters are right on the money. I love all the rides at WDW and this is my new favorite! It's funny ... but the ads on television (particularly at WDW) make you think it's a wild ride (they sort of portray it that way). It is a very gentle 5 minute experience. As others have mentioned, fear of heights might be a consideration ... but you can definitely sit in the third row and be fairly close to the ground. My DW gets terrible motion sickness and loved it ... it is truly a "one-of-a-kind" experience.
(I noticed that I keep saying "experience" ... but that's what it is ... it's more than just a "ride".)
Have fun!
