I have friends who are going to Epcot for 1 day during F&W. They are staying off property, don't have Magic Bands, and won't be going to Disney on any other day of their trip (WHY???WHY???). They have heard me talk about Soarin and would like to ride it. Is there a way for them to get a FP for Soarin' for that day? Does it matter if they buy their 1 day tickets in advance or at the ticket booth that morning?

Thanks,
Laurie

If they buy their tickets ahead of time, they can book FP+ up to 30 days in advance. If they wait to buy the tickets that day, they'd have to wait until they get into the park to book FP+. I would tell them to buy their tickets ahead of time; I don't know how likely it would be for them to get a FP for Soarin' the day of.

If they purchase their tickets in advance and link them to their MDE account they'll be able to schedule a FP+ ahead of time and for a time that works well for them. If not, they'll more than likely be able to schedule one on day-of but it probably wouldn't be valid until late afternoon or evening. Another option would be to get there early and hop in the stand-by queue as soon as possible.

Thanks for the responses! I don't think they'll want to set up MDE accounts for one ride so they will probably just have to take their chances on that day.

If they get there early, they can go directly to Soarin' and probably not wait long in the "standby" line. We did that and it was practically a walk-on. However, we didn't go at a super busy time. We always went to the parks with the intention of being there before it opened.
I can't see going to all the trouble of doing MDE and trying to get a FP ahead of time for only one day and basically one attraction.
They WOULD be better off if they got the ticket ahead of time and that would save them time when they got there. You never know how busy the ticket booths will be................

I live a two hour drive from Orlando, so we frequently go down to WDW for just one or two days (and always stay off site). Since FP+ rolled out, I have always purchased tickets in advance and signed up for fastpasses ahead of time. Even if we decide on Wednesday to drive down on Friday, I have a lot greater choice for FP times than I would if I waited until I got to the park.

Setting up an account through My Disney Experience takes 5 minutes -- then they could also buy their tickets at the same time and have them mailed to their house (or select to pick them up at Will Call). To me, that seems a whole lot easier than getting up super early to make rope drop at a park I'm not familiar with (I'm assuming your friends are relatively unfamiliar with Disney).
