Okay, I'll admit it....I am a chicken. I do not ride rollercoasters, I love Goofy's Barnstormer though. I do not ride ToT or the like. So my question is, will I be able to handle Soarin'?? I would like an honest answer.

I get motion sick very easily and so do not do any of the motion rides either. For our upcoming trip I am planning on getting a perscription patch for motion sickness so that maybe I'll be able to enjoy more rides.

Is Soarin' a safe ride for me to try???

TIA!!!!

Soarin' is a very pleasent ride, and I don't think you would have a problem at all. Everything moves very smooth. It's like watching an I-max movie with a bit of movement on your seats. You are lifted up, but that's not bad either.

I also am not a roller coaster fan. I loved Soarin' when I was on it in April. The bottom row was fantastic. :tinker:

My brother has motion sickness and he is afraid of heights. He loved it!
You'll be fine, it is such a relaxing ride (we rode it 4 times) you will love it! ;)

Soarin is a great ride. You won't get sick on this ride. All you do is sit in chairs kind of like in movie theater. You have a seatbelt the top of the ride comes down just alittle bit then this whole ride assembly raises in the air and you watch a really awesome specticale(sp) of what it looks like when you are flying. The ride moves just alittle bit but not anything like you would feel on bad ride. Nice and smooth. You would not have a problem at all. You'll love it. Especially when you smell the oranges... :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

I am a chicken.
I rode Soarin' twice.

The first time I didn't know what to expect. When the ride took off I was holding on so tight and wouldn't open my eyes for the beginning. Then I opened my eyes and realized it wasn't fast. It was fun. We got off the ride, got a fastpass for 90 minutes later. The second time I didn't close my eyes. It was incredible.

You think you're chicken????????? I have the BIGGEST YELLOW streak that lives down my back. I don't do anything that causes me discomfort of any kind!!!!! This is the HONEST truth!!! I do not lie about rides. :sad2:

The first time my boys wanted to try it I went into panic mode. I read all the warning signs and I was scared to death. My husband had already backed out at the emergency exit and I was going to be next. :rolleyes1

Honestly, I would have missed my favorite ride  It is smooth, it is gentle, it is gorgeous. My husband was finally able to make it on at another time and has since become his favorite ride as well. In fact, we did it twice on Saturday and it was his idea. ::yes:: He has this inner ear problem, I have a fear of heights, fear of motion and fear of flying. I also hate the dark but that's another story. In other words, if we can do it, you owe it to yourself to try. I hope this helps!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I guess my nan (grandma) is one of the few. She's a chicken also, but she had her eyes closed the whole time on Soarin. She won't go on it again! But she is definetly an exception! I say go for it, it's AMAZING!

I get motion sick on many, many rides. I am not afraid of any of them. Soarin' is a very pleasant ride and is mild. BUT there are two spots that get me on the verge of being sick. The first one is in the Yosemite shot when the hanglider turns. This one is short. Toward the end is a shot of Navy ships in San Diego Harbor and the camera tilts sideways on a long swooping shot. You may want to close your eyes for 4-5 seconds when you see the ships.

I don't get motion sickness, but I hate thrill rides. I definitely wouldn't classify this in the same category as a thrill ride (like RnR, ToT, etc). The movements are very smooth and whie I hate heights, it didn't feel like I was that high up at all. I think it's definitely worth going on at least once.

I am also a chicken who doesn't do thrill rides and I get motion sickness easily. I was very hesitant to ride Soarin' but I heard such wonderful things all the same things written in these posts so I decided to try it. I am so glad I did. At the start of the ride I thought I had made a mistake and felt a little funny so I closed my eyes. Then I took a deep breath and opened my eyes slowly and LOVED it! I think you'll be fine. Good luck! :sunny:

This was one of the most breathtaking, peaceful...beautiful serene rides that I have ever been on in Disney...how it could even remotely make one ill...I have no clue....its not to be missed! :)

my entire family loved it!!

I'm a chicken, too. But I've tried every ride at WDW (except Mission Space). Many rides I won't do again. I did Soarin at California Adventure a few years ago and I felt like I was going to fall out. But I'll do it again if the family wants to try it. My dd7 who is a BIG chicken (she thinks the drop in Pirates is too much), loves Soarin'. I had the top row, so maybe if I had the bottom row, it wouldn't have been so weird for me.

I'm ready to try it again, so it really wasn't that bad.

UP to a couple of months ago I'd have said you'll love it and have no problem at all. However I told my mother that and it turns out she was terrified on it. She said she felt like she was going to fall the entire time.

I had 2 experience with Soarin'. I rode both DL and WDW versions.

The DL one I loved, but I did still get a bit queasy, mainly parts where it was either at night, or it was turning to much (the video, not the ride). So my second time when I wanted to try it again, because I did like it, I took Dramamine. Well I still had to close my eyes on parts, but I didn't get queasy...just very...very sleepy!! As soon as I got off the ride, I sat down on a bench to make sure my stomach was ok, and it was, just all of a sudden I just wanted to lay down. But I will go on it again.

It's an incredible ride. Try it. None of us know if it's going to bother you or not- but I have to say try it. It's fantastic. My family's favorite ride.

I go on the ride with my eyes close hear the music and enjoy. My husband says do not open your eyes it feels very real and he knows it will bother me. What would happen if it started and someone start to sceam would they stop the rise?  party: party: party:

I guess I am in the minority here, but i rode it once and while it was GREAT, I did feel queasy. I didn't want to ride it again in May, but the rest of my family did and loved it. I just don't do well with simulators like that.

Another ride chicken "clucking" in! I loved Soarin' - it is truly exciting! I don't do anything like coasters or drops, and I thought this ride was great.

It does make you feel like you're flying - and I think the fact that your feet are off the ground makes some folks feel unsafe, but you'll be fine.

I wouldn't lie to you! Promise!
