Hello,

I just booked my daughter and I yearly trip for 2022 for April 29th to May 2.

Just read that from March 4 to April 26, 2022, Soarin’ Around the World will be unavailable to make way for Soarin’ Over California.

But on a different page, it says,

Glide above the Golden State’s natural and man-made wonders—available March 4 to April 26, 2022, as part of the 2022 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival.

To all that is there now, is Soarin’ open now?

Will it be open when I am there? So confused

Thanks!

Do you mean will it return to Soarin' Around the World after April 26th? I understood that from March 4-April 26th the ride is available- it will just be the original "California" version of the ride during that time.

It's Soaring over California now, until April 26, then it will go back to Soaring over the World. I don’t believe there is any downtime for them to switch as it's just a different video and a few signs to change. So April 29 – May 2 it will be world.

It will be back to Soarin over the World for your trip.

It's a swap that can be made overnight.

Thank you for all the responses! I really missed the California version but still happy that World will be there.

Nearly everyone I've talked to and seen comments from (myself included) really prefers the California version. I'm not sure why Disney is so stuck on World when guests don't want that for DCA. Maybe Epcot at WDW would be fine, but DCA is better match for CA film. I guess so they can advertise it each year as "back for a limited time" :earsboy:

Side note-
A few years back they even did update filming to include Carsland yet it was never used. I live in Anaheim and we were given notice of extremely low helicopter filming of Disney resort (as it's normally a no fly zone) Similar to how they filmed Disneyland in 1999 prior to 2001 DCA opening. I love aviation so it's pretty neat seeing a helicopter dive up and down around the park.
"HD filming for the Anaheim version of Soarin' Over The World is all set for Wednesday morning. The flight plan has WDI's helicopter swooping over the Cadillac Range in Cars Land before banking over Route 66 to the north and flying above the Carthay Circle Theater and Buena Vista Street, then diving over the Esplanade to finish with the exact same flight over Disneyland as the original movie captured during filming back in December, 1999. Don't bother trying to wave to the camera, as Disneyland's security team will prevent anyone from being under the flight plan, and thus in the line of filming, that morning."

This gives you an idea of what's involved for World:

While I prefer the CA version, there's something wonky with the film this year. It's very shaky in certain spots and it makes it hard to watch. I don't know what happened but we've been on it twice now and it's something that really bothers me. It makes me kind of motion sick, and I never get motion sick.

That's sad to hear. :( I haven't had a chance to ride it this year yet, sounds like the old film quality isn't holding up.
