Well, the cake is all wrapped up and ready to go for tomorrow. The brownies came out pretty well

How'd your DH's cake come out?

The cake was really moist. The icing? I'm not sure what he used. It wasn't the standard cream cheese and I know he got it at the health food shop. So I've decided not the investigate too much. All I can say is that it is a cream cheese substitute and the icing is a little bland and bleh!

But I didn't make it and you can always scrape the icing off the cake.

The icing I'm making is the recipe they gave us in the class, which calls for 1/2 cup of butter and 1/2 cup of shortening. Not a fan of shortening in my frosting But oh well

Baking today and I have to bring an uniced cake for the class tomorrow, so it's cooling off at the moment. I have to make frosting, too, but we don't have enough powdered sugar, so that has to wait until Mom gets home. I also made brownies because my uncle's coming over and my mom was like "OMG MAKE A CAKE" and I replied, "Um, I'm making one for class tomorrow, so we'd have TWO cakes. How about brownies?"

I wish I had time to bake....but I'm too busy hanging out on the DIS!

Thanks! I feel better after the bath with my mineral salts. As soon as Fran gets in the shower we're going out to Lowe's again, this time to return stuff and get the blinds we bought the other night trimmed to size.
