Again. We had a 3 day heatwave starting New Year's day. It's been raining and passing showers since Tuesday this week. The forecast for the month is passing showers.

Although....the forecasters have been getting it wrong lately.

What did you need to get?

Yesterday we picked up draperies and rods at Anna's, but Fran wanted to check Lowe's selection before we opened the packages. We found drapery rods $15 cheaper and matched better too, so that will save $30. We still need 4-5 sets of blinds.

On the other hand, I installed three doorknobs today!

What is DS doing on days like this? Day camps?

Funny you should ask.....we ran out to go pick up DS from his half-day holiday program. And then went to the mall. I needed to get DS school shoes before Chinese New Year. It's supposed to be bad luck to buy shoes for a whole month after CNY and my mum has been asking us to get shoes since Christmas.

DS is booked in for an all day program next week and that's about it.

As I work 3 days a week, it's not so bad on a Monday or Thursday. Normally he spends time with the grands on Tuesday/Wednesday..but the last couple of holidays, he's been staying home. It also helps that DH works from home.

Boy, it's slow around here! Tomorrow I get to try locking door knobs, there's two more of those and the rest are front door and deadbolt hardware.

It's supposed to be REALLY REALLY bad luck to buy shoes in the 1st month after Chinese New Year. The last time someone in my family did this was my uncle (DM brother).

4 days afterwards (and 4 is another bad luck number), he collapsed and was rushed to hospital. There was blood clots in the back of his head and to cut a long story short, it took him over 9 months to recover from it all and he's still not the same.

Ever since then, no one in the family has dared to buy shoes in the 1st month. DM was reminding us (not just me but the entire family) to get shoes.

DS came home from dinner last night with another message....reminding me to get shoes.
