I certainly don't. It wasn't until last week when someone on this board posted the directions that I knew how to save a screen photo. Of course in the meantime I've forgotten and now I don't know where that post is. :confused3

So for those of you who DO know, how about clueing in the clueless about all those F keys, what SysRq means and the ever popular Pause - Break. Out of all of those keys, the only one I've used is F8 to get into Safe Mode.

Any other nifty key tricks you know, post them here. :teeth: Inquiring minds want to know!

To save a picture off a screen in Internet Explorer:

(1) Right click on the picture
(2) Select "Save Picture As ..." from the list
(3) Browse to the location where you want to save your picture. I believe that your "My Pictures" folder in your "My Documents" folder is the default.

I'm clueless and crossing my fingers that this Vista/Aero turns out to be as easy as it promises to be. We'll see in a few weeks.

To capture an image of what's on your screen at that moment (a screenshot), hold down ctrl and alt while pushing Print Screen. Then open MS Paint and do shift insert. Use the MS Paint File, Save and save as a .jpg for most purposes.

"Print screen" does not actualy print the screen. It is more like "copy screen" then you open any photo editor, even the lowly paint program then paste into a page.

I will add more as I remember them...

Hey I just said that!!! Guess I should not have answered those two calls while typing. Stupid work getting in the way.....

there's no need to press the ctrl button when running print screen. Print screen button alone captures the whole desktop image, while alt + print screen captures the uppermost window that's open.

then ctrl+V pastes it into Paint, Word, etc etc.

Thanks! I'm saving all these helpful hints in MSWord. My memory is not what it use to be and it was never that good to start out with. :teeth:

Do you have this key?

You'll this need to complete the "press any key to continue" task. ;)

When you've got open the DIS, your game of solitaire, and anything else you don't want the boss to see when he walks by, just do a windows key / M and it will minimize all your open windows.

Or just Alt/Tab to the window that has some legitimate work in it
