I know some people tend to hit the after christmas sales and the new years sales and start gift shopping for the following christmas. How many of you have started that and what good deals have you found??

I have bought a couple things and never, ever thought I would be the one to buy things a year in advance for Christmas, but I loved being done before Black Friday! It's so much easier on the wallet!

I bought a few things for my kids to take to gift exchanges but nothing for anyone specific.

I only bought a couple things, like some christmas slipper socks from eddie bauer and also a mouse pad that you can put pictures in that were really cute. And a book.

I have a couple of groups I am in that we have a gift exchange for. I always buy those gifts ahead of time. Anymore, those are about the only ones. Last year I hit the motherlode at Cracker Barrel, but this year they didn't have much. I was able to get one gift there and one at the Family Christian Book store. I also hit Target and bought nothing. I think places really cutback this year so there isn't much left over like there has been in years past.

I haven't found a ton of sales either! I know that Bath and Body works has their annual sale, but I have so much body wash I won't need any at all this year:lmao:

I have decided this year I am going to pick up gift cards throughout the year, since they do not expire.

Not gifts, but I have gotten some good deals online at The Children's Place and Crazy 8 for winter clothes for next year (and this year, my 7yo is growing like a weed). I found some things for DD at Delia's, too.

I bought some stocking stuffers today for my youngest daughter at Target for 70 percent off (Cinderella polly pocket in Christmas packaging, a Barbie Christmas coloring book and some Christmas socks). I also have three Hello Kitty watches that I bought at an awesome price right before Christmas this year that I am planning to give my nieces but I am not sure if I am going to give them to them for Christmas next year or for their birthdays.

I used to shop all year long for gifts but stopped several years ago. After another stressful December of shopping, I am going back to year-round shopping! Saves money and stress!

So far, I have hit Old Navy's 75% off clearance and gotten socks and glove/scarf sets for my niece and sister-in-law. I also picked up glove/scarf/hat sets, pajamas and shirts for my brother and nephews.

I hit the local gift shops yesterday and found some other little goodies for super cheap. I have cleared out a shelf in my storage room to put everything.

I am so happy to be back to doing this! Now when I find a great deal I can get it and put it on the gifts shelf. So far, everything I've gotten has been at least 75% off. Plus I only buy what I have cash for, so no credit cards! :-)

I can't do Christmas this early, I have little storage space and I forget what I bought by next year.
But, my kids have birthdays in January, March and April so I do get their birthday stuff on these clearances. ODS is getting some awesome cars things for 75% off from Target. Most of the Christmas stuff seemed cleared out. I've been finding a lot of sales on home things we needed around the house. We get some curtain rods for the new curtains my kids got for Christmas.

Barnes and Noble half-off after Christmas sale: got a World puzzle for DS and a set of cutting fruit which teaches fractions for DD - putting them away for next year. Also I got them a "Make your own hand puppets kit" but will give it to them soon rather than wait - we got DD a puppet theatre for Hanukkah so we need to populate it! ;)

DH and I do several gift exchanges at Christmas. Usually, go out at the last minute and end up paying full price for the stuff. I decided to be smarter about it for next year. For DH's work exchange, I got a desk-top beanbag toss game. This was his first year at the company, so he didn't really know what most people bring. He took a nice cocktail shaker set. But he discovered that plenty of people bring really silly stuff. The beanbag toss should be perfect for next year, and I got it for half price.

At Kohl's, I found some really cute travel mugs that were marked down to $2.79 each. I got four - one for myself and three to give away next year. I also got some discounted towel/potholder sets to put with the mugs. I'll toss in a $5 Starbuck's giftcard for each and have some really fun, but inexpensive, gifts to exchange.

I have NEVER shopped for next years gifts before, however, we went to the Mall of America with no plans to buy anything at all. I had won tickets to Nickelodeon Universe, Sea Life Aquarium, and Moose Mountain Golf. While we were looking around some of the stores, we found a beautiful snow globe with a nativity scene in it and it played Silent Night. It was only $10 so we bought one for ourselves. A couple of hours later we went back to get one for DH's sister who likes snow globes. We also saw wooden ornaments for $1 that we bought for DH aunts. We were so happy!

well, this is not really whatyou were asking and it's kind of embarassing but.....

I had bought ornamanet kits to make for THIS Christmas and I never got around to it since things were so crazy busy. Since we are on holiday break, I have time now and I know I won't have time to make them next Christmas either. So I went ahead and made them for NEXT Christmas.

I didn't get anything to put away for Christmas next year but I did get some clearance Legos for my dses Easter baskets, and some fragrance sets for my dd's birthday and father's day.

I wish. There is so little out there left that I haven't found anything.

Getting clothes don't work for us since no one in my family or in the extended families don't want clothes as gifts and that includes gloves/hats/scarves.

So I've given up on getting stuff too far in advance.

I used to shop early for gifts but found I was spending more than I wanted because likes, dislikes changed so I now I shop in December/after Thanksgiving. My list is small only my kids & parents, so it is not too stressfull to do the shopping.

I had a hard enough time finding what I wanted to give this year (last year?) let alone finding things a year ahead. We only buy gifts for our two adult kids and son in law, so it's not like I can just buy generic gifts and then find a recipient. And adult children are so hard to buy for! I miss the toy buying days!
I do plan to shop earlier and have all gifts bought by November this year. No more December stress for me.

I am one of those who used to be done by Thanksgiving but shopping thru the year but I think this year, I will just put $50 away every month and shop right before the holiday this year....

I just got back from Bath and Body Works. Everyone raved about the Evergreen candles we gave out and requested them again, so they hit $8 and I grabbed the last 4 our store had. All I know is wherever I store them is going to smell like a forest! I am leary of buying other items due to the strict return policies of timing...I know Kohls is very liberal but most stores around here are 90 days or less. I did pick up an adorable cascading star necklace for my SIL who's BDay is in November, it will be a fun item for holiday ouifits and it was under $10 :thumbsup2
