So, where do you use your Disney Reward Dollars?

Hoping to build up a lot of Disney Reward Dollars for our trip almost a year away. I think we're getting a $15 Disney Gift Card just for signing up. Problem is, we've got a Deluxe Dining Plan, so don't think we'll have to go OOP for too many meals. We'll be at WDW for eight days. Where can I make most use of any credits I earn using my Disney Visa? Will be going October of 2012, so Epcot Food and Wine Festival will be going on while we're there.

We used ours for tips and for shopping.

When we were there in Aug. I used my rewards points for an hour on the little boats at the marina at the Contemporary resort. They let DH split the hour so he could take each kid on a half hour ride around the lake. We are DVC'ers and also got a 15% discount! I thought it was a great use of the points. I had some left over that we used on a counter service meal. I didn't realize I still had some money left over when we came home and used the rest at our local Disneystore to buy my kids some small items as stocking stuffers for Xmas!

We're staying at the Contemporary. Tell me more about these boats! It will just be husband and I, but I would love to go out on a boat! Love the water!

use snack credits for Food and Wine snack. Disney Dollars for tips (still need to tip with meal plan) for drinks (alcho and reg) and suv.

It really is a favorite thing to do for our family. The have all different size boats & you can take them out for different lengths of time. The area at the CR marina is massive and you can ride by the MK :lovestruc. We have rented one of the pontoon boats and brought lunch and ate while out on the water, it was great. The 2 seated boats, I think are called sea racers are fast and fun! They are around $45 for an hour I believe.

We use ours to get snacks, matching WDW tee shirts, and I collect snowglobes, so I usually get one of those. The rest I divide between our 3 kids so they can get what they want. That is the real blessing, because I don't have to spend the whole trip telling the kids no you can't have that. (within reason of course!)

If you won't have OOP expenses just apply it to your room.

If you haven't signed up already, I'd wait for a better deal. We got a $200 gc for signing up. We're using that and our reward dollars to pay part of our balance on the trip.

I just used some to preorder the Photopass CD.

Well rewards dollars are just that, dollars. So no matter what you decide to spend them on you will get the same value for them.

I use them mostly on suvioners. Our next trip I am using them for food.

I have had my Disney Visa since day one. I've always used it for all of our bills except our mortgage. We never seem to have that many points when it comes time to go to WDW. Last time I had about $100 and next year I miiiight have $150 saved. What am I missing?

I used to be able to use credit card to pay for daycare. That resulted in a LOT of points. Our new daycare doesn't allow that, though.

We use it for everything that we can and we do rack up a lot of points. I've used it for Dr bills, my monthly orthodontist payment, dance school tuition, the gas bill, verizon bill, gas, groceries, car insurance etc. I wish I could pay my mortagage with it LOL. Use it for anything and everything and pay the balance in full with the cash you would normally use for those things. When I bought my car, I asked the dealer how much I could put on the card and he said $5000. I was ready to give him a check, so I used my card instead and got $50 free Disney dollars for doing nothing.

I use the points toward my package balance, and then leftover money is used for tips or souveniers. Good Luck!

I use my disney Visa for every bill I can. I currently have about $400 rewards points.

Using the points... talking about the boats... they have them in most of the marinas (Grand Floridian, Contemp, Yachtclub/Beachclub)... we've rented the water 'mice', as well as a pontoon boat. Lots of fun!! My dh and ds parasail from the contemporary marina too.

I use my points to shop on-line at disney. I usually get useful items (kitchen towels, silverware, pocketbooks, sweatjackets, pj's, etc). I find tons of household things I actually need. I love using my points that way.

Last trip we had about $300 earned and we used ours for souveniers and snacks during our two-week trip.

My next trip is a quick/value four-day stay in January 2013 with my three sisters (for my 40th birthday). I expect to have at least $750 earned by then. My husband would prefer I pay my own way with it and have a "free" trip that costs our family $0. It would easily cover my portion of the package since we're sharing a room. But, that feels stingy to me, so I may just pay down the package and split the difference with the girls, making it a cheap trip for everyone. :thumbsup2

As far as how I will earn that much? It will be 30 months worth of rewards (since our last trip) and this is the ONLY card I've been using. And I use it for absolutely everything I can: medical bills, braces, utilities, gas, groceries, dining out, entertainment, etc. Basically everything but our mortgage and one utility bill that doesn't accept cc. Bummer.

How often do you go? Unless we have an odd year (the year my DH was in grad school, we got to charge all of his tuition, and then his company reimbursed us!), we usually have around $300 every other year. I don't use it for everything, though. I still pay a lot of bills with debit or check.
