I am wondering about the Carnation Cafe. Is it just open on certain days and is it just outside seating? Is it table service or is counter service? When ever we go, I see the tables outside , next to Blue Ribbon , but I dont see a restaurant entrance. Oh, and how is the food? is it good? Just curious. Thank you in advance.

It is table service, outdoor seating only I think. The food is pretty good. Cant complain. Dont know about only being open on certain dates. If you go, try Oscars Choice, its a bit of almost everything. It was named after Oscar, a long time chef I believe.

HTH!!

There's only a small outside seating area. Where you see the tables there's an area where you check in. HTH

Well, thank you very much. We usually eat at Rancho Del Zocolo , but I think I would like to try something new. Thanks for the info.;)

We very much :lovestruc Carnation Cafe for breakfast. You can make PS's if you want. We ate there our last 2 trips. I always get the Mickey Waffle while DBF gets Oscar's Choice. The potatos are to die for. (Seriously, Disney makes really good potatos. The Bayou potatos at BB are pretty dang good!)

Right in front there's a little booth and that's where you check in and if you don't have PS's there's a line behind that both where you stand.

I suggest you try it! :thumbsup2

I haven't been there for lunch or dinner though.. But the menu looks pretty tasty.

I agree with everything you said.
I ate there for lunch once, I got the loaded baked potato soup which was very good, but I prefer breakfast mainly for the delicious potato's.

Yes, we are big fans of Blue Bayou potatoes too. We love to critique the food at DLR buy BB potatoes are one of the few things that really get nothing but rave reviews!

Mmmmmm all that sounds so good, you guys are so making me hungry. DH and ds are gonna go get in line for rides I won't go on, and they'll be finding me eating mickey waffles. LOL

Carnation Cafe is our favorite breakfast place at DL! They are the BEST. The iced mocha is soooo good! The lunch is pretty tasty as well - the loaded baked potato soup is delicious - I had to fight off my DS from taking mine (he should have ordered his own!). Yummy stuff.

I would make PS though - every time we went there were lines (and we did not have to wait because we had made PS - YAY!)

I' not trying to thread jack, but this past trip, I realized A LOT of people do not know about making PS's. We ate at Carnation Cafe as soon as we arrived Friday morning and there was a family of 7 (it was 2 sisters with 1 sister's 3 kids and another's 2 kids), and they obviously didn't make PS's and so they couldn't be seated together, and of course we were seated next to one half of the family (the family with the 3 screaming, crayon throwing kids), and their Mom was complaining the WHOLE meal that they weren't seated together and that they had to wait, and blah blah blah.. :confused3

Another time we ate PS's at Wine Country Trattoria in DCA, and there was a party of like 10 (seriously) and they were complaining they had to wait an hour to be seated.. And I heard them when they were complaining, the hostess asked if they made PS's and the lady said she didn't think they had to...

So lesson everyone! Make PS's!!

Okay, off my soap box. Thank you. :goodvibes

When you walk down Main Street going towards the castle, it's on the left hand side right before Blue Ribbon bakery.

I will definatly go to the CC next time we are there. I too love anything shaped Mickey. I have the Mickey ice cube trays lol, everytime I look down into my iced tea, and see those little Mickey heads, I get so happy!
And apparently I have been missing out on those Mickey shaped waffles...... (just pretend the dancing banana has a knife and fork in his hands):rotfl2:

We just love love the loaded potato soup there. It will be our first stop for lunch when we arrive. :)

What's great about CC is that they have a good selection of food, its right off of main street (so if you plan well you can eat and watch a parade), and its affordable. When my fiancee and I were at DLR for a week, we found that the most affordable breakfast we had at a restaurant type of location was at CC. Also, its fun to be able to rest your dogs and watch kids walk by in excitement that they are at the happiest place on earth. :goodvibes

After many many MANY trips to Disneyland I have decided to try new things this trip. One of those new things is Lunch at Carnation. Can't wait.

We ate lunch at Carnation Cafe, and yes, the food was good... but more than that, it's hard to put into words, but there was just such a special energy there, just a true, peaceful feeling of happy, like the special family days that Walt so wanted. It was just so magical for us...*sigh*
