So whats up with the Carnation Cafe?

If you have not yet tried the CC, it is a must. And yes the breakfast is our favorite. My guys are meat eaters and the continental breakfast at the hotel never quite get's it. Someone earlier mentioned Oscar. Oscar been employeed at Disneyland the longest of any other employee (his employment began in 1956.). I have had the pleasure of talking with him several times. A friend and I were talking about him and then we realized we have never taken his photo. Well, as luck would have it our last trip to the park Oscar was there and we got his picture.:thumbsup2 Oscar was going to retire, but he was asked to please stay. (How often does that happen?) So, Oscar will be taking some time off and will return on a part-time schedule. As for my favorite meal, it would be the Eggs-Benedict on a Croissant. And yes it is true the potatoes are unbelievable. Priority seating is a must. I kind of feel bad when I see the hungry faces waiting in line, and then walk up and get seated. But, just like fastpass, we all have the chance to use it. Also, after we are seated and we have decided on our meal choices, we send one person out to get FP's.:tink:

Our breakfast there last week, Oscar was out and about talking to guests and seating people. I was explaining to DBF who he is and he's like "oh! I hope he comes to our table!" Yeah, he didn't, but it was neat seeing him interact with the guests. You can see it in his eyes the true pleasure and happiness he gets working there..

Another vote for eating at the CC! I wanted to eat there our entire trip, but didn't make PS's (because our schedule was so up-in-the-air, we ate lunch between 11 and 2pm!! The only thing we could be on time for were character b-fasts, simply because those started out our days!!)
The ONLY time we walked past the CC that it was not FULL is when it was closed!:rotfl: It is a VERY poplular place to eat. On our last day, we were walking back to the hotel to grab a quick McD's lunch and have naps, and we walked past the CC. Dh immediately grabbed my arm and said "Hey - it isn't full - let's see if we can get in!" I didn't hold out much hope, cause I figured most of the tables would have been for lunch ps's, but we were seated after only a 5 minute wait while they cleared a table for us!

The Loaded Baked Potato soup is to DIE FOR!!! Wish I'd ordered a bowl instead of a cup! And the little mini hot dogs for the kids are so cute!

The atmosphere is also really amazing - you get to watch the people rushing around down Main St, and yet it's like you are in your own little relaxed world in there - the birds hop right over to your table to check things out (which my dd loved!!) and we never felt rushed, despite the fact that we were taking up the largest table in the place and there was a line of about 20 people waiting shortly after we were seated!
I would absolutely reccommend you go - I am making PS's there next time around, no question!

Sorry, but new here and wondering what is a PS at the restaurants? It sounds like alot like a Fast Pass but for eating instead of riding which would be great:banana:

PS is the Disney version of a reservation. The main difference is that they DO NOT hold a table for you but you are first to be seated when one becomes available at your PS time.

Does anyone know the hours CC is open during the week for the summer? Just wondering if they serve dinner?
