So what's the deal with Disney Bacon?

We've never been to Disney, and upon reading a lot of reviews I've seen numerous comments about Disney's bacon and was just curious what the deal is with it.

Thanks.

I don't know. :confused3

I believe the only time we had bacon was during breakfast at Pepper Market (CSR), but we had no complaints. In fact, it was done just the way I like it. Hot and crispy!! :goodvibes

We've had bacon for breakfast at TS and CS restaurants and they've all been very hard and burnt. I believe they are intended for sandwiches/burgers since they are quite thin. So, we don't usually eat them, or if there's a choice we'll choose anything but bacon.

That's funny because I was going to reply that we find it limp and rubbery.

We've eaten at many of the character breakfast buffets, CRT, CP, DSB, Akershus plus many of the food courts and found the bacon to be consistent.

I don't know. The bacon at Chef Mickey's is my son's absolute favorite. He wolfed down an entire plate full. :scared1:

Its pretty much the standard bacon for the food industry. A thinner sliced bacon that they cook up real crispy. Not the best not the worst.

I'm not sure about the complaints :confused3, I thought the bacon was pretty good, did'nt have any complaints from anyone in my family.

Its thin, its limp and its the consistancy of plastic

I love love love bacon, but the last time I had it at WDW (Crystal Palace breakfast before MK opened), it was limp, chewy, and didn't have even a hint of crisp. I'll be trying the bacon at TH this August, but I'm setting LOW expectations for this one.

It appears many WDW restaurants are now using pre-cooked frozen bacon (the same stuff my parents get at Costco, looks like). It can be purchased in bulk and lasts longer, but even if you fry it, it will not become crisp. Since it's pre-cooked they really don't need to fry it, they can just heat it up.

It is pseudo- BACOn...Looks like bacon, smells like bacon, but in reality it is some impostor:rotfl2:

We are bacon fanatics (if there is such a thing). People make jokes about my extra freezer - there are at least 5 extra pounds of bacon, if not 10, in there! I have no complaints about the bacon we've had in over a dozen WDW trips. We just had great bacon last month 5 times - once at Kona Cafe, twice at Picabu at The Dolphin & the other 2 at Captain's Grille - DS had 3 plates full at CG one morning. At all 3 places it was hot & crisy, not limp or rubbery at all like some reports I've read. I guess it depends who makes it that day! It's not sliced as thick as my family is used to, but it's just fine.
