So what's so great about the CHI flat iron?

I wish I knew - I bought one, thinking it was the best thing since sliced bread - nope!

I dont know actually! My stepdaughter has one and let me try it (she got it for her birthday), and I didnt understand what the hype was all about. I'm just going to stick with my cheapo Revlon one. It seems to work just as well as the CHI.

Darn. I was hoping you would tell me how it makes straightening your hair life-alteringly easy. Saves me money I guess.

My dd and I personally love our chi. That being said my dd has very curly hair. The other flat irons out there just don't straighten her hair as well at all. The chi is easier and quicker for her to use....We LOVE IT! I think there is another thread on here about the chi. Hope this helps.

I bought a CHI about 10 years ago and I guess back then it was the best thing ever. No other iron could come close to straightening my super thick, curly hair. It finally conked out on me a few months back, and my stylist said that CHI was once the iron to have, but now all the irons have pretty much upped their quality and they were pretty much a dime a dozen. Got a really good deal on an ION 1 1/2" that I control the temp on, and it works in half the time my 1" CHI used to work - of course the heating element was probably going out on it :)

My first chi had broken, so my mom got me a cheap Relvon one to hold me over until christmas when I would get a new Chi. It just didn't give that same healthy shine and smoothness that my chi did. Once I got the chi, I used the Revlon on one side of my head, and the chi on the other, and the difference was even more than I had realized. To me, it's worth the price. You can find them on sale sometimes for around 70-80 dollars, and to me it is worth it. Paul Mitchell also makes a really good flat iron.

I have fine hair that is fairly straight, but like to flip in wierd directions on the end. The Chi is the only iron I have found that will control the mwithout frying my hair, or not getting hot enough to really set them.

Another CHI fan here. I had a Revlon, another cheapy drug store one, and a better one from my salon & none compared to my CHI. I also have thick, wavy hair & the others just couldn't get it stick straight, and keep it straight. I can't figure it out either - they all use the same temps, same plates, etc. but I swear by my CHI. It cut my straightening time in half over the other models I had, which is a HUGE benefit for me. I got mine with a discount at the beauty supply store for about $90 and would pay double that next time. Maybe it depends on your hair type, but my CHI is definitely better for me than the other 3 I had.

They are better than the cheapo brands, but for my thick hair, it is never as straight as I'd like it to be (even with the Chi).

My last Chi iron lasted 4 years. I had to replace it last month (with another Chi). It started to smell like it was burning all the time. I figured that wasn't safe, so I threw it out.

:dance3:
One of my friend have a Chi flat iron. Seems very good. But I've only bought an Univesal flat iron. It's also good for Straightening my hair, I think.

IMHO, GHD is a better straigtener than a Chi. Believe it or not, it is quite a bit more expensive than a CHI (retail is over $200), but it totally rocks. It is a fantastic straightener, but I mainly use mine to get amazing curls. It does both great, so I no longer need a curling iron.

I have had my CHI for about 5 years now, and I am thinking of upgrading to the GHD. I have heard really good things about it. I had my hair cut and straightened yesterday at Toni and Guy, and they used one of their own. I could see the steam coming out of it, and today my hair is pin straight. I can't remember the last time my CHI steamed like that,so I would say it is about done.

Seems that the GHD is very popular, one of my friend used it, and she recommended this product to me, but i think it is too expensive and i am using CHI flat iron. it is work well for me. :hippie:

I love my chi! I went from a cheap revlon to a chi and it's like night and day! The thing is amazing. No kinks, nice straight, undamaged hair. I use it daily and take half the time the Revlon did.

A chi is the only flat iron that i have ever bought that my hair actually stays striaight after a couple of hours.... I have curly and hair and after straightening it with other ones it started curling right back up... :thumbsup2

Chi is the only flat iron I've tried that straightens my hair nicely...other flat irons will get it straight, but it still seems coarse and not very shiny at all compared to what Chi does...

Using Chi straightener:

You can notice the difference in the smoothness and shinyness for me...my hair definitely seems stiff and coarse, not smooth and shiny. I have naturally thick and curly hair...I recently broke my Chi (I pulled the plug right out of the bottom...oops...I need to learn how to treat expensive things better lol) and I bought a cheap straightener at Wal-Mart to replace it for the time being until I stop working at Disney and am back to making a reasonable amount of money lol....I haven't been straightening my hair much at all because I can tell that the new one is frying my hair when the Chi never has in over two years (and I've only had the new one since March/April...only used it to straighten all my hair MAYBE 5 or 6 times since then vs. 2-3 times a week before...now I just do my bangs)

My daughters and I prefer the cortex irons to he chi, we think they work faster and leave our hair smoother and shinier. They are the ones they sell at the kiosks in the mall for about 150, but Marshalls often carries them for much less ($20-$40 depending on size). My 12yo DD and I have fairly straight hair to begin with, but 15yo DD has very curly thick long hair and she gets hers pin straight and glossy in about 15 mins. The cortex also makes big loopy curls, don't know about the chi since we never tried that while we had it.

If you really want Chi, Harmons accepts Bed Bath and Beyond coupons and you can get 20% off a chi iron.

I've had my CHI for about 4 years now and it still works great. I don't use it that much anymore but when I do it works great. :thumbsup2

I purchased the "Conair Infiniti CS31" yesterday at Walmart for $35.

I looked up a bunch of reviews and it rated pretty high.

My hair is straight, but frizzy, and this seems to work great! My hair looks shinier, and does not have the massive frizz factor.

It is a "Tourmaline-coated solid ceramic straightener" with a floating plate and adjustable temperature.

DH even commented a few times yesterday on my hair. He thought I got it cut and said it looks "neater".

So far, I think it is well worth the cost! I had set a limit of $50, and I was thrilled to find one for $15 less than that!
