Dumb question I suppose, but say you ride SM where they load in one place and unload somewhere else? Does a CM bring the chair to the offload place? Am going down with a friend in July who will be using a wheelchair (she can walk some for short periods so can go from chair to ride seat no problem) and am curious about this. Thanks!

Yes they move it to the exit. You can also ask the cast member where the chair will be before you enter the ride to make you feel more comfortable :)

I guess it is part of the magic, the wheelchair is right there when you get off of a ride. We've never had a problem. Have fun!:thumbsup2

::yes::
they use Tinkerbell fairy dust to move the wheelchairs:tinker: :)
Just kidding!!!
For some attractions, the CMs do move the wheelchair to the exit, but in many attractions, they just route people using wheelchairs so that they board at the exit.
Usually, you will be in the regular line until very close to the regular boarding area. At that point, there is a place to pull off wheelchair users and route them to the exit for boarding.

Thanks! I do believe in fairies...so I'm gonna tell my friend not to worry cuz Tink will take care of it!!! I'm sure most of the time we can just park it she can 'crutch' or 'cane' through the queues but not sure after a few hours doing rides she'll continue to be able to. I'm just such an obsessive planner and I want this to be a great trip for her!!! Thanks for the info!!

My DD10 is in a wheelchair. She can not get out of it on her own. We always assist her in and out the chair and onto and off the rides.

Yes, the wheelchair is brought around to where you will get off the ride. If they stop the ride, they will push the chair up next to the ride vehicle. But, they can not assist you in any way getting on and off the rides. Also, don't forget that if the ride breaks down, the person/people with the person with a disability is responisble for getting the person up/down the stairs or whatever evacuation route. The CM's can not touch a guest in assisting on/off rides.

And occassional when you ride something like, say Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, they will let you ride twice if you ask nicely so that they don't have to bring it to the other side. :cool1:

We was once evacuated from California Screaming in Disneys California Advneture and we was on the steep incline you go through first when we was haulted. We had paramedics come to rescue everyone but because my husband is in a wheel chair we had our own private Paramedic help get him out. He could walk down the stairs slow and then they had us sit while another person brought us the electric Power chair. I know they wont aid in normal get in and get out but when ever there is an evacuation they will assist. We also have been evacuated before from Space MOuntain in Disneyland (Coinsodence it was that same day as teh DCA evacuation ) and the cast member did stand to help us out of the cart so we didnt slip. They helped everyone similarly.

Thanks for the heads-up! She is mobile, like I said can use a cane/crutches I think for many of the queues...I just didn't want to inconvenience anyone else. I think it is so cool how Disney just seems to take care of those little things! And people wonder why I'm addicted! This board has been great, too!! I want my friend to have such a great time and it is great that I can work out the little details before we go! Thanks all!!!

Problem with her walking through the queues is that sometimes she'll have to stand and walk for a long time to get through the line. I say use the chair, many of the queues are wheelchair accessable and when they aren't there is a separate handicapped entrance. I doubt the CMs mind moving chairs to the exit. It is a part of the job it it helps make the guest's day more magical.

The cane/crutches will probably be helpful for transfers into and out of ride vehicles though.

Yikes! I forgot we are going in July! I've never been at such a busy time. We'll use the chair!
