Ever wonder what a professional photographer going to the Olympics would bring?

Here's your answer:

Needless to say, I'm a bit jealous and quite green with envy.
Look at all those lovely white lenses!

I had to laugh when he wrote "Take only what you need!"

That is all he brings! That's nothing, I bring that to Disney every year.:rotfl2:

We'll probably see a decrease in people asking if just bringing a DSLR and kit lens is too much to bring to WDW.

:)

Wow, I wonder how much he takes to events and if he hires his own personal sherpa to carry all of that. I keep trying to convince my niece that she should carry all my photo equipment for me when we go to WDW or locally and she keeps saying no. :)

I could pay off my house with the amount of money sitting on that table!

We had a newspaper sports photographer talk at our club a few months ago. He works without an assistant. On a typical football shoot, he carries three 1D Mark II's, a 70-200mm f/2.8, a 400mm f/2.8, and a 16-35mm f/2.8 The 400mm is on a monopod. The others are holstered in his belt pouches.

Yikes.....I hope he doesn't fly Delta. Don't they charge $50 for each additional bag?

no big deal... I saw this on modelmayhem earlier, he works for newsweek, they foot the bill and it's most likely their gear, not his...

Actually after I picked my jaw up off the floor, I checked out his website and he's a freelancer. Some of the aerial photos on his site are amazing.

but he is covering the olympics for newsweek, hence his blog on their site...

and he has an assistant to help
with the gear, and the assistant also transported half of it to china

so newsweek is footing the bill and checking who he's worked for in the past, explains all the gear,

I hope his Olympic photos are more interesting, style-wise, than his gear photos. :lmao:

This would be good for the person who says, "I want a camera that takes great low-light and action photos, has a ton of zoom, and that I can fit in my pocket, and it has to cost under $250." ;)

I was responding to your assertion that it's "most likely [Newsweek's] gear, not his."

He could also be sponsored by Canon as well. That would explain the amount of gear. I'm sure that he probably has an assistant or two that help out too.

That's awesome to look at though!!!

Last night while watching the Olympics they cut to the crowd of photographers. There were bunches of them in there all crowded together- all with the big white lenses on monopods.

My uncle is in beijing for the olympics. He said every photographer there is given a lot of equipment. All those vests you see them wearing are provided from the IOC and are returned at the end of the event. Canon also is a sponser.

I transmitted a special order deposit for a customer, paid $10,000 in full, for the Nikkor G600mm lens. Nikon hasn't even shipped any into the US because of the olympics. It leaves me wondering when it'll happen...
